McGee is going on a little rant in the video about the Saints and their no call. I find it fitting with the Louisiana football culture along with a host of others. And, I've seen a share of Bama fans still holding on to "it was a pick play" from two years ago.

Do you call this past football season good, or great? Or, are you a sore loser?

Sat, 1/26 - Marty & McGee

Was a good season (arguably great in terms of stats & records broken and set).

The loss to Clemson was big time disappointing, considering the offense just didn't get the points it should have. I don't know that I'll ever wrap my brain around this game... This alone prevents me from defining it as great.

Not sore here. Got beat by a better team. Bama’s loss of players in the front 7 on defense finally caught up with them when it mattered. Still a very good season.

Great season, but the way Clemson handed our ass to us is hard for me to wrap my head around. The pick play from 2 years ago is what it is. That is a football play that is called probably less than 50% of the time. The only one I remember being called was a Notre Dame game a couple of years ago. It's football. I can tolerate a close loss like that waaaay better than the shellacking we took this year.

It just doesn't make sense for a Saban that hasn't been beat like that since we (Bama) did it to him back in 2002. Just a real head scratcher.

I used to be that "sore loser"! It was after the loss to Michigan in the '00 Orange Bowl on a missed extra point, of all damn things, that I let it go. 20 years later and I just see things differently. People point to the "pick play", I point to a shitty 3rd down conversion rate on offense. I look at all of the misfires during the entire course of a game and don't harp on any one single play. Saints fans are pissed about the 1 no call, I look at settling for FGs on first half drives that could've essentially put the game away early, or how about the pass play on 1st down that burned literally no time off the clock and allowed the Rams to hold their last timeout. Bad playcalls on 1st and 2nd down definitely aided the Rams.

we lost...they won...

get better, play tougher, and try again next year is all you can do

don't over-analyze things you can't change...you'll go crazy and miss the things you CAN change and be worse off for it.

Games like that change your views on kickers, or on starters lost on the offensive line before the last game of the season (Utah, Sugar Bowl.)

I think that going into coaching changed my view more than anything. I started to see the WHOLE picture, like you said, ie. starters out, the 3 parts to a place kick, etc. Before, I would fuss and cuss and blame this DB or that OLineman for giving up a TD or sack, but failed to acknowledge 12-15 penalties, horrible 3rd down conversion rates, dropped passes or fumbles.

Sore loser....naw.... or......maybe....
But you cant get past the facts......something was wrong in the game...receivers running wide open vs Bama secondary...and Bama with all American safety back there...offense not converting in red zone...with all American olinemen and RBs...hard to figure... can you state facts and not be called a sore loser? Kinda like the political air these days..... it was a good year...only national championships get the great added to them... kinda like the 1974 team....or 1971 probably more like...since nebraska blew bama out....
But time heals wounds.... but this loss the way it was and is seen...is really achink
In the Bama dynasty..... ( kinda the way bama did to Miami in 92)....
I think the way Bama responds...do we come back with better than ever...not to be denied ( like bama did after 71 loss) ...or sink into mediocrity ( like Miami did after 92 loss)........ sore loser.....i dont know.... but am sore about losing....

I'm not a sore loser. I will get pissed off when we lose or I feel my team hasn't stepped up, but I let it go after a day. That's just the competitor in me.

I have said this countless times. I grew up a Georgia fan. 2002 was the greatest year of my life as a Georgia fan after winning the SEC Championship. That trip to Jacksonville sucked, but all in all it was a great feeling. I had never seen my dad so happy in my life than when he got us two tickets to the game and Georgia blew out Arkansas. Never getting to or winning the big game leaves people very very sour. Becoming a student and a fan of the University of Alabama has brought me more pleasure than anything outside of my wife and kids. I see people like me as a kid and my dad and how long Georgia fans have gone without hitting pay dirt and I am thankful for tasting it not once, not twice, not three times, but four times in my short tenure as an Alabama alumni, fan, and supporter. I have nothing to be sour or poor about. You simply cannot win them all. We will eventually lose to Vanderbilt and Arkansas again, it's just life. I was upset with our performance against Clemson and seeing all of these headlines about them being the best yadda yadda, but it doesn't make me sour. We have won more than Clemson, we are built to return and give them a game, we are going nowhere. You simply cannot win them all, and that's something I take with me considering I have been blessed to experience more than most during this run.

High expectations are what Makes Bama football great.... Can't have it both ways. The same people willing to incoherently over spend and pack the house at a Spring game are gonna be the same people that pay thousands for travel & tickets and yes.... They expect a Championship. Always makes me smile when Saban acts surprised by the expectations... Where does he think his money is coming from? We'd treat him real good here at CSU if he'd prefer....

I try to be as gracious as the next guy. However, most everyone that I've spoken to that wasn't an Alabama fan, to begin with, wanted to use it as a stick. Living on the Jawja line about 30 minutes from the barner's campus it has come up a few times. At that point trying to live vicariously through anyone that gets the best of us is highly unacceptable. So far, I'm happy to report, they haven't made it past round one.

You’re right.... i wasout and about yesterday
...20-30 miles north of Knoxville....
Was surprised at vol fans...none ugly...no tasting victory in clemsons eyes...
Lot of football talk....was surprised....

I look at the game as a series of things and sometimes you have one of those games that leaves you scratching your head but you move on and know you need to improve. Not like any of the other 14 teams they beat can say anything that does not make them look pathetic.

The Clemson game was one of those head scratchers for sure. A combination of Miller getting hurt, Defense not up to par, not finishing offensive drives, not as many explosive plays, a pick six, coaches looking for their next job etc.. all made for a perfect storm. No way that Clemson is 28 points better than Bama except on that day.

I think the foundation is to solid for their to be an implosion. To much talent and great coach(s) to let that happen. Does this point to a possible crack, sure but if Coach Saban sticks around I do not see him being ok and just standing buy and watching it happen.
