| FTBL Fran in the news...

aubrun has the barter system. That's the kind of information ears might provide a big-time booster while getting a free ride at a hunting preserve.

Bizarre story, indeed. Interesting that McKenzie is now a "personal assistant" instead of personal biographer now than Fran couldn't sell a book to save his life.

Jeez I'm glad to be rid of Franphony !!!!!!!

http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/...807.01D.FBC.Aggies.Franchione.en.34050d6.html

For a "mere" $1200 a year he has been running a double secret insiders monthly newsletter.

Probably to cover McKenzies latex wardrobe bill. :?

WTF?? For the money the Aggies are paying him this is chump change. Unless he is just greedy beyond comprehension- why run the risk of bad publicity??

hmm, wonder if our coaches do this.

I'm a little surprised that the $1.5 mil aTm pays Fran isn't enough and he feels the need to do this. I sure hope that by having the highest paid coaching staff in the nation, we don't have to hear about our coaches doing this.

I'll also add that when you are on a seat as hot as Fran's, you probably do whatever you can to keep the wealthiest of boosters happy.

Supposition:

If the money had anything to do with this, it wasn't fRan getting paid, it was probably McKensie. It was mentioned that the money was used to support the web site.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. When rumors of fRan leaving Alabama surfaced and research started to see if there was anything to the rumors there were several web site domain names discovered that had been reserved in the midst of the '02 season. Those domain names were listed as being owned by the 12th Man foundation. (something like that...bottom line, it was a Aggie booster group.)

Are you putting this together?

Here we have fRan and McKensie stating the money was being used to support the site that was listed as being owned by an Aggie booster organization?

Fact:

Sharing injury news of this sort is a direct violation of HIPPA laws. There are no if's, and's or but's about it. It is a federal law, and it was clearly broken.

The aggies are already pretty unhappy with him. This might be the excuse to run him off.

While this may be the nail in the coffin for fRan....the only excuse the aggies needed was the last 5 seasons. :D

I was reading on texags the other day and someone posted all of the records that fRan holds there at aTm. It was hilarious. He is like their very own version of Mike Dubose without having been an alum of the university. The two that stick out in my mind was the first losing season in 14 years. And the worst home loss ever. Also I think it stated that he was the only head coach to ever have a losing record at home. Aggies are ready for some new blood and I would be willing to bet that barring a miracle of God, they will get it.

That artice is just downright SCANDELOUS!   And the talk of disclosing "injuries for money" (ok, maybe it's not as simple as that, but you get the idea of how the media is going to go with it) just goes on to further reinforce what many of us in Alabama have known for a while about that person. Talk about a souless dog. That's what Dennis Franshione is. And can you just imagine how the players are going to react when all of this sinks in? Not to mention if more of this type thing comes out. We all know that athletes are subject to a certain amount of criticism. That's just part of the game and the athlete understands that, even at the lower levels of competition. Performance, or lack thereof, determines perception and opinion. Players understand that coaches and fans will form opinions of their ability. But players also expect that the opinions of their coaches would, to a large degree, be witheld from outsiders. IMHO what Franchione was doing here was a blatant violation of the player/coach agreement. For Franchione to be offering up this information behind HIS players' backs in something akin to a gun for hire or mercenary-type environment, is nothing short of a character indictment on Dennis Franchione, which further demonstrates his complete lack of ethics or regard for anyone but himself.

If Franchione still had the players at TAM up until the point and time this article came out, he may have just dug his own grave. This is bad stuff here, even by Franchione's standards. Not nessesarily the content of what was said, because a lot of it was fairly mild. But it's the betrayal of trust.

This is really bad stuff, and we're only talking ethics here. We havent even gotten in to all of the legal conciquences of these actions.

wouldn't it just be funny if one of the folks paying $1200 for this actually brought this out to have fRan fired? makes ya wonder...

Boosters do crazy things. Wouldn't surprise me,and frankly the notion could be spot on.

We'll see how it works out in the end, but this very well may be aTm's get out of jail free card.

His contract states that he's supposed to maintain a standard of conduct. If he does anything that reflects badly on the University he can be suspended without pay or fired.

Add to that, if he's fired under these circumstances, they don't owe him a penny.

I did get a laugh or two reading over his contract tonight everytime they referred to Fran Inc.

Terry, I'm sure you've seen the talk too, and the general conscensus among a lot of the fans (that seem to have some insight) there is that Byrne won't fire Franchione this year regardless of the record. Apparently Byrne thinks any coach hired deserves 5 seasons of evaluation before the decision is made. That's his stance (reportedly) but given all that has transpired recently you might well be on to something here. If Byrne can save face and get out relatively scott-free.........it could get very interesting for Franchione.

As you alluded to, this incident (combined with a number of other things that have transpired recently in Aggie-Land) might give Byrne the proverbial get out of jail and/or a bad contract free card.

What their fans are saying makes sense considering his contract runs through the '08 season. Will this make an impact? If not this season, when the contract comes up for renewal it'll be on the fore-front of everyone's mind.

I've seen karma mentioned here a few times. What would define it would be the same group that negotiated his move to aTm be the same group that negotiates his exit. One of his excuses about leaving had to do with boosters around the program and their involvement in what happens in T-town. Talk about a story book ending. Wonder how Mike "Be of good Cheer" McKensie would put that to paper?
