I tend to agree with the point Holtz made on this subject. He mentioned divided attention along with the idea of what does the leaving Coach lose if the team loses. (See Fran, Auburn '02)
Herbstreit used the example of Mike Stoops with OU. But, I don't know how that applies to any other situation considering his brother was the HC.
I think of Price in the Rose Bowl vs OU.
