"I was offered by Alabama today," said Bates. "I have been in contact with Coach Smart. I talked to him last night. He kind of mentioned they were going to offer, but wanted me to call today and talk to Coach Saban.

"It's not everyday you get to talk to Coach Saban. It was a real humbling experience, a blessing. We talked for a good amount of time. He said how much he likes me on film. He talked about what they look for in linebackers. He said I can play almost all three linebacker positions."

I've run into Bill Bates a few times locally around the time of the game, he still has a business here. I try to give him a Roll Tide when I see him, he sure could lay the wood.
