🏈 Former Bama RB Keilan Robinson apparently sold his Championship rings. Big NCAA violation if true.

Ha Ha, hopefully no one is dumb enough to pay that. I know a guy that has multiple sets and the price is closer to $10-20,000 for that set, depending on the player. Rick at the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop probably paid $3,000 for them.
On TV they paid $40K from some guy (not Keilan). The question becomes if he was a broker or if he bought them from Keilan originally. Either way it is a violation.

Absolutely shocked he paid that for them. Especially from a guy that didn't even suit up and was at home the entire time, and that still hasn't done anything in college. Oh well, good for him for getting that. Also shocked they showed the player's name.

I feel like Walter Sobchack saying this, but I can get them much cheaper, by 3 o'clock this afternoon...

Longhorns RB Keilan Robinson on Alabama: ‘We Can Beat Them Boys’

Expectations for the Texas Longhorns are high in Austin in 2022.

And Texas running back Keilan Robinson has just added some fuel to that fire.

On Tuesday night in a Twitter space session with fans, Robinson all but guaranteed victory for the Longhorns over Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide in their Week 2 matchup.

“Ain’t no chip on our shoulder, it’s just a … it might be a chip (because) it’s Texas, because you there’s a few people that might be trying to count us out,” Robinson said in a since-deleted tweet, “but knowing what I know, seeing what I see every day being here and being there, I know we can beat them boys. We just got to do what we got to do.”

Robinson, of course, knows the Tide about as well as anyone in the Longhorns program not named Steve Sarkisian, having transferred from Alabama to the 40 Acres in 2021.

One day … long after his playing days are behind him … he will regret selling those rings regardless of the price. If you’re on any team that’s not Alabama, having a chance to receive those rings is very rare. But even if Texas wins two NC’s while he’s there … at some point in his life … he will kick himself for not having his Bama rings too.

I am going to be honest, I doubt he paid that much but if he did it is because he knew items sold on the show go for much more than regular items that walk in the door. Matter of fact, the items they buy on the show like this are set up in advance for publicity. But those are really worth less than $5-10K. Someone like Mac or Waddle would be different but still probably not worth $40-60K.

Apparently not illegal. It's covered under the NIL I guess it's considered the name portion of the NIL agreement. Weird and wacky, but whatever the kid wants to do. Someone pawning a championship ring, screams not knowing how to handle your money.

Read up on that...a few schools are even helping players sell Jerseys now with their names and stuff
I would think the question of legality comes from the date he originally sold his rings to the "uncle." If it was after the 1st of July, then it's within the boundaries of the NIL regulations. Before then? There's an issue.

Maybe? NIL is still weird. If the school helps a player create personalized jerseys and sell them then that is perfectly fine. I am not sure about bowl rings and such yet. Still a grey area.
