Former Alabama standout Evan Mathis and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a five-year contract, the latest key player the team has locked up.
A person familiar with the negotiations says Mathis' deal is worth $25.5 million with $7 million guaranteed. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because terms have not been announced.
The team said it reached agreement with Mathis on Saturday. Mathis, an unrestricted free agent at guard, visited Baltimore on Friday.
Mathis, a Homewood native, is coming off his best season in his first year with the Eagles. He earned a starting job in training camp and moved into the lineup at left guard just days before the team's first game.
