🏈 Former Alabama offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, hired as new NY Giants head coach.

He's one guy I didn't care for. I didn't like his demeanor ir his attitude. The whole "wants to get back to the NFL" attitude gets to me pretty good. I feel like it doesn't take much to be an NFL coach, but takes more care and the will to develop to be a college coach. I enjoy teaching young kids and helping develop.

What you mean by that? Can you elaborate on that a little bit? Some people aren't cut out to be a college coach.

If Josh McDaniels lands in Oakland that'll make two more off of Saban's Michigan State coaching staff that have landed head coaching gigs (Williams and Dantonio.)

I am not a fan of a guy not cutting it at the NFL level, using college football as a placeholder and using Saban to rebuild their reputation just so they get another shot at the NFL. I can't stand a guy like Daboll and Marone with one foot consistently out the door waiting for that NFL call. These are the guys setting bad examples and causing some of the coaching turnover and transfer issues. In my eyes they don't connect or resonate with the players, program, or fans. I have zero issues with having a goal tobe a NFL coach, just not a fan of the one or two year rehabilitation program and the foot out the door ready to jump at any time.

In my mind coaching in the NFL is as easy as it gets. You're getting the most polished athletes, so you're more focused on scheme. It takes a special coach to coach at every other level because you're working on developing, scheming, and putting a mixed bag of athletes together to complete an on the field product. Of course it takes a special person to deal with the personalities the pros forces you to do with, but making millions of dollars doesn't create much sympathy.

You really think Coaching is easy in NFL compared to College??
Roster management, Roster limits, the difference in Offense/Defense , etc? Coaching NFL is lot harder than college. In NFL you would be lucky to get 10 wins.

We've had NFL coaches that went back to college to coach. We've had College coach that went to coach NFL. So what if they came back to College to do a "rehab" program. They get to come in and to figure out what was working and what wasn't working.

Daboll learned a lot from Saban in 1 year.. and you'll see him implementing few of Saban's process. So that's a win for Saban and Giants.
Marrone.. Nobody wanted him and Saban took him in . I have no issue with how they want to do this.

This is similar to Players leaving school after 1 or 2 years to go to another school for a chance to get to NFL. Jameson Left Ohio State to go to Alabama for a chance to get in NFL. Burton did same. Gibbs did the same. Why can't coaches do the same. It's just business. Those kids aren't stupid.

Ha, coaches stay in the NFL that are terrible. The NFL is a joke. All of the reasons you stated are nothing more than simple decisions. They get their guys and they make their bed with them. Lucky to get ten wins? Everyone is pretty evenly talented, so that's what I'm saying. The hardest thing in coaching is extracting talent and developing it, which in the NFL it takes a lot less than any other level.

No offense, but I wasn't trying to sway your opinion on the matter, so I'm not concerned. You asked for clarification of why and I'm telling you why I don't like it. The NFL is not harder, it just takes a certain personality. Dominant personalities like Urban, Saban, and Spurrier don't make it in the NFL. Laid back ones like Pete Carroll and Andy Reid do. Belechik, we'll see what he really has without Tom Brady. He's the only dominant personality I have seen that can win. Bruce Arians, same deal. Both guys have to prove they can win without the best player ever. You have to be able to manage premodonnas and multiple personalities more than coach in the NFL. On top of that you have to be able to handle owners like Jerry Jones, Snyder, and Davis that are always close to the team and demanding results. That's where the NFL challenge is. I'm not a fan of Daboll and I think he will fail, saying that now.

And to answer another point of yours, I was never crazy about transferring. Look at ehat the portal has caused. A lot more harm than good. We are benefitting now, but we'll see if we are once Saban leaves. Either way, it's costing a lot of guys careers, so I don't like players being treated like coaches. I hate coaches leaving left and right too.

If Josh McDaniels lands in Las Vegas that'll make two more off of Saban's Michigan State coaching staff that have landed head coaching gigs (Williams and Dantonio.)
Appears to be a done deal.
That will possibly send BoB to the Patriots from what the guru's are saying.

I think Daboll's biggest issue at Bama was wanting Tua all season, when Saban was going with Hurts, because he was senior guy and all he did was win.
That was rumor, but I could see where it would be very frustrating to have one of the most accurate QB's you have seen in college, sitting on the bench behind a guy that consistently threw behind his receiver and always relied on his legs.

Sort of like the Marrone / BOB argument. Having spent so much time in the NFL, you are dealing with top athletes at their respective positions. I liken it to taking a college professor of mathematics and telling him to teach geometry to a bunch of high schoolers. Takes a different mindset.

Miami and Jacksonville Jags what an interesting week... Miami Screwed up over Daboll, Jags about to lose Leftwich over GM perference... whew.

Both teams are behind the 8 ball now... which is really bad for Jacksonville because they've had all kinds of time to get something done. Their GM Baalke should have been canned along with Urban, he was the one that went to bat for him. Don't know what they'll end up doing, but word earlier today from some friends covering the Sr. Bowl was that Miami appears set to offer 49ers OC Mike McDaniel very soon. Would be an interesting hire if so... for those not familiar, check him out. Not your prototypical football coach.
