🏈 For those who attended A-Day ..

I dont think there was alot to really be negative about (especially since its a spring game after all) except for the play of the QBs really all around. As far as the game Ill just copy & paste what I said earlier.

During the luncheon with Coach Saban before A-Day said the toughest thing thus far has been keeping everyone focused so yeah that was very evident. The 3rd Quarter was pretty painful to watch with mostly 2nd and 3rd team players in there making a ton of mistakes, but even AJ made a cpl bone head plays that I truly hope he wouldnt make (and dont think he would) in real games. The first drive looked like the AJ we know, made a beautiful sideline pass and then hit Kenny Bell on the TD. Yeldon looked great all day running and catching. The line actually played alot better than I expected this early. I was truly impressed with the DBs, far more than I expected to be. Did Belue look great or what?! The pick 6 for Vinnie was set up by the excellent play on the ball by Belue (heads up to Vinnie for adjusting to the ball and getting the pick too) and he also made a great pass breakup in the endzone late in the game too. Landon Collins was something else on back to back plays he broke on the ball something fierce with the 2nd ending up in a pick. HaHa was just as good as we all knew he was going to be. I was really surprised how comfortable Cyrus Jones looked at Corner too. I was disappointed that I didnt notice Jai Miller out there. I saw him on the sideline but never saw him in the game tho Im sure he got some playing time at some point. Alec Morris was the only other QB that really looked decent at all. Blake Sims seems to have regressed which is very unfortunate because I'm rooting for him. His picks were absolutely atrocious throws and he panicked several times.

Honestly, if this is the worst game they will play all season, I'll just be glad it's against themselves rather than TAMU or LSU!! Plus, it just goes to show how good our D is hahah. The only D that can beat us is .. us

the offense looked sloppy at times but sometimes it's hard to say how much of that was the defense being on the ball. i thought overall the secondary played a good game and the linebackers looked sharp. didn't watch the LOS as much as a normally do in game.

Most of the QBs looked generally uncomfortable.

but i'll take this type of A-day any day over an offensive blowout type game which doesn't usually bode well for your team IMO.

I think it was sloppy looking as well. It looked like the QB's were forcing the ball trying to make things happen. There were several excellent throws made, but most of the int's were because of a QB trying to put the ball somewhere it didn't need to go. Kenny Bell's first TD was a 40-50 yard in the middle of the field, that he had to come back to. The defender ran on through the end zone while Kenny came back to it to make the catch for the TD. It may have been designed like that, but typically you don't throw a come back pass down the middle of the field.

Having said all that, I agree with Porter. We are top 3 school and all we have to do is continue to get better as the season approaches and rolls on.

In post game interview, AJ stated that it was difficult for any of the QB's to get into any kind of rhythm.

QB play was inconsistent at best. The picks AJ threw are throws that he would not have taken at all. The Morris kid seems to have made some big strides in surplanting Sims as the backup. It's hard to have guys motivated and attentive to details for a "Spring Game" when nothing is really on the line. Nothing was shown at all. As stated by Porter earlier, we are a Top 3 team and nothing will change.

I agree. Morris is the backup at this point in my book... but Blake Sims should play as a change of pace dude kinda like when Mark Ingram took snaps in the wildcat.

I think a lot of Blake as a runner, but i've yet to be impressed with his accuracy. You can also tell by how he plays that he is more comfortable as a runner.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in a two back set where he could take the pitch and be more effective as a passer on the run.

Idk if anyone noticed, but the QB's were not getting much time either. Not to say the O-line wasn't doing good, but man that D-line was just giving them hell..Pretty exciting to know we have better pass rushers this year than in years past.

Reggie Ragland did pretty good to hitting the right gaps. Dillon Lee and Ryan Anderson also was doing pretty good off the edges. Dillon moved to WILL did he not?
