🏈 For those bitching about Bateman starting

The one and only question you need to ask yourself about who plays quarterback at Alabama:

-Is this guy capable of winning a National championship?

If the answer is no, move the fuck on until you find that guy. And that doesn't even mean win a championship this season... At some point in his career, can he develop into a championship QB?

Coker and Bateman are resounding no's. Sorry, but it's true. Coker is not smart enough to make the right throws at the right times, and Bateman is just not special in any way. He's not a dual threat QB... Dual threat QB's will run and throw. He doesn't. In the 3 games I've seen him play he looks about as basic of a QB as there is. Kiffin running those short routes and connecting beneath the chains was a clear sign of how he feels also... And the 1 deep ball that was called, ended up in the wrong hands. He's just not special in any way.

WAY TOO MUCH TALENT on this roster to be playing a QB who will never be able to get it done. Coker will be gone at the end of this season and we could be right back at square 1, trying to find the next guy. Barnett and/or Cornwell should be tried out, so there can be an evaluation if they are worth developing as a championship starter. JMO

I laugh so hard hearing people say Coker can spread the field. I have never seen worse down field passing. I saw one pass I felt was a decent look deep, the others were something I can see anywhere on a Friday night in the south. Overthrows, underthrows, all over the board.

This. Also, I'm not convinced that Coker isn't a tad "special". However, I do give him his due respect for the effort he put out Saturday night but I think we saw him at the limits of his ability.

I find it interesting that people will say, "so-and-so can't do X" or "so-and-so doesn't know how to do Y" so they should be benched but then complain that Saban/Kiffin don't play the backups to get experience. How do players learn to do X or Y without putting them in the game? Do you really think that if you put Barnett/Morris/Cornwell into a game they will be perfect?

I think it's time everyone quits griping about what a QB didn't get right. The game is over. Saban isn't listening to you even if you are correct. If there are changes this week that are similar to what you say/think, it isn't because you complained about it.

I'll hang up now and listen.

Bateman led the team on a great drive early and if i recall correctly a penalty that had nothing to do with him backed the team out of scoring position to what the 11 yd. line with 2nd and goal?!

I just wish we had a starting quarterback. I don't care who it is, especially by now. This team has no identity? This team has no quarterback. Whoever the staff picks, go with it and don't look back. For crying out loud, they're more indecisive than my wife.

Look, how can you play well not even knowing if you will play? How can you lead if no one knows who's leading?

Drive or get out from behind the wheel.

Bottom line: We redshirted the only QB capable of winning games for us. Yeah, he's a freshman and he'll make mistakes, but he'll grow into the job. By all accounts, he's phenomenal. Coker has had 4 years to grow into the job and Bateman 2, and they are average at best. Don't give me the crap about Coker transferring either. He was under Jimbo who used to be Saban's OC and QB coach. And was pretty good at developing QB's. Apparently, Coker just doesn't get it and never will.

I am excited to see what Barnett can become but he isn't more capable than what we have out there right now. Watch him in the spring game and see.. he doesn't have that big of an arm he threw a 40 yard pass up for grabs and I could have thrown it better. He needs time in the weight room.. he isn't ready yet.

Saban has proved over time that he will play a talented freshman if he is ready. I agree the other guys aren't great but they are what we have to roll with. It would take some serious injuries in my opinion to get him in (Brandon Avalos) type situation..
