Their working theory, based on what's happening in the NFL, is reducing the number of plays per game. Shaw mentioned there were almost 30 more plays in the college game this past season versus that of the NFL. (No mention of how many schools run some version of a HUNH offense not seen in the NFL.)
They are thinking it'll reduce the games by an estimated eight plays per game, seven to eight minutes of total game time.
Shaw also commented they were keeping those two minutes because it separates college ball from the professionals.
