🏈 For the first time since 1968 clocks will no longer stop on first down in NCAA games.

Yea, I don't get the whole time debate, outside of the reviews being excessively long at times. This puts a lot of pressure on the referees to move the sticks and get the ball set immediately then, going to be tough in late game situations having to deal with the referees resetting the chains and placing the ball correctly.

Less possessions for both teams benefits better defensive squads.

Are you aware they'll still stop the clock in the last two minutes of each half?
Oh they kept the 2 min portion, so it's not during the whole game then? Well that takes less stress off the late game situation then. Not sure it shortens it by a ton though. It's not like baseball where they're wasting minutes at a time on each first down.

Their working theory, based on what's happening in the NFL, is reducing the number of plays per game. Shaw mentioned there were almost 30 more plays in the college game this past season versus that of the NFL. (No mention of how many schools run some version of a HUNH offense not seen in the NFL.)

They are thinking it'll reduce the games by an estimated eight plays per game, seven to eight minutes of total game time.

Shaw also commented they were keeping those two minutes because it separates college ball from the professionals.

Isn't that what people pay to see?....plays...

I think 30 more plays a game would be a positive...i guess not to the braintrust that governs CF......
