Jimbo left a mess.

Florida Stateās APR of 936 is the lowest of any football program in the FBS.
The APR -- Academic Progress Rate -- is essentially a measurement used by the NCAA to determine how athletic programs are performing in the classroom, and penalties such as practice restriction, scholarship reduction and championship bans can be enforced if an APR is too low. FSUās APR has dipped in recent years, and the latest information released for the 2017-18 academic year points to problems for FSU.
For comparison, the average APR among FBS football programs is 968.
FSU's multi-year score of 936 is above the 930 threshold that could lead to penalties. It is worth noting, however, that FSUās 2017-18 APR is 922. Hitting in that range consistently would put FSU in the territory of receiving a penalty.
The declining in-class performance was a problem towards the end of the Jimbo Fisher era, with academic casualties occurring frequently. This aspect is believed to have improved under coach Willie Taggart, but itās difficult to totally gauge progress until an entire academic year is calculated while under his watch. One source with direct knowledge of FSU's academic issues recently told Noles247 that the football program was limited in letting problematic players go this past year because it could have further jeopardized the already low APR
