Well, I don't know 13? What do you think? I mean, since you have it all figured out. Tell us how this was Florida's "Ole Miss game" or enlighten us on how Florida was not exposed.

Just FYI, if you call this, Florida's "Ole Miss game" you'll probably lose any credibility you have on this board. This is a Florida team that was called out and ***** slapped by Lane Kiffin in the off season. He took personal shots at Meyer, among others, so if you think that Florida was going to come in here and just forget that, or not be prepared, then I have a business proposition for you. Problem was, Florida was prepared. They just might not be as good as advertised is all.

Florida came into this one looking like they were playing not to lose, as opposed to playing to win. Ironic, considering Florida has UT out-manned at pretty much every position on the field, including water boys and cable girls. They also looked like a team that couldn't throw it down field against a decent SEC defense if their life depended on it.

I don't know about you, but I saw some HUGE holes in Florida's facade today. Maybe that's just me.

I completely agree, that glaring hole at WR really, really shone today. It hasn't until now (for obvious reasons) but if they can't find themselves a go-to man on the outside or at least one that's a homerun threat to stretch the 'D', I think they could be in some trouble down the line. Hardesty and Brown were runnin all over them late too when they should'nt have been.

FL has no deep threat this year. Last season Harvin and Murphy were a concern every snap. FL can't out muscle you at the line when the box is loaded. The only physical presence they have is Tebow. Since they lack a field stretching deep threat they will see alot of 7/8 in the box against defenses that have good CB's.

Arky is all big plays and no sustained drives on offense. GA is very average on defense and they held them when it counted. Limit big plays and Arky will struggle to move the ball. Oh yeah they suck on defense, especially in the secondary.

LSU is undisciplined, erratic, and their QB is careless.

After three games the most complete team in the SEC...the team that can run or pass with equal efficiency on offense...play tough defense against both....and has several play makers on both sides of the ball....and solid (not spectacular) special teams is BAMA.

It's right there for our taking. Now, we have to go out and earn it!!

tennessee played their best game of the year yesterday with the only errors i can recall coming from the QB position. crompton is not going to be the guy for them. it's sad really. that being said with a great game played, they still lost by 10. and it was only close because fla turned it over late which is an oddity.

that turnover is the only mistake i can think of that florida made. the int was just a good play by Berry. so with only one mistake, fla wins by 10?!?!? florida has problems... here are a few...

1) their receivers are not getting open consistently downfield. when tebow looked for them often he had to tuck the ball or get sacked. they just weren't open.

2) the fla O-line is having a hard time making a pocket

3) the fla defense can't stop a good running game from getting 3 yds per carry or so. that can be devastating in a game against a team like Alabama.

4) florida's defensive line seemed tired halfway through the 3rd.

comparing this game to the ole miss game from last year is only useful for a couple of reasons. Ole miss's defensive line and LBs disrupted everything tebow and co. were trying to do and MADE them make mistakes. they got tebow out of rhythm and it meant that fla never really got it going on offense. ole miss's defense hit florida players as hard as anyone all year. tenn did somewhat the same thing to a lesser degree. their D-line and LBs just weren't able to beat the fla O-line often enough.

UF is certainly missing the speed of Harvin and lacking that go to guy at WR.

A few thoughts.
1) UF is vulnerable to a balanced Offense who can be physical. (Had UT only had a passing game....)

2) Not believing that this was anything but UT's Superbowl, I'm interested in seeing if they can play inspired football week-in week-out for the remainder of the season.

3) Be careful about UF, in one respect. I was impressed by the way that they seemed to peak at the right time, getting better through the season. We did not do this, peaking a few weeks too early (e.g. Beating LSU on the road in Baton Rouge, and the route for the ages against Auburn) UF may have much better football to come...but so do we

4) Prosperity may fall into UT's lap. That is to say, they my get better but not by their own hands. UGA's sustained record of not challenging for championships will take them out of contention for Elite recruits seeking that. If goes Irish, UF could lose their edge relative to those programs it competes against (Bama, FSU, Miami...)

5) Lane Kiffin is not strong enough to keep his hungry fan-base and undisciplined team from venturing into the realm of Lack-of-Institutional Control. If the coach is butts his head against the rule book, what is keeping the Rouge Booster from coming out of the woodwork? Who's the adult supervision in that program? Grand Pa Monte, the career Pros guy? The half naked mad man from Oxford? Seriously, who is driving the bus? Where did Lane learn to play by the rules? Squeaky clean USC? Oakland?

All teams have weaknesses. It's not a matter so much of Florida's being exposed yesterday as much as it was a team, at times, finding ways to alter or stop what the Gators like to do.

We had a good game plan for the Gators in the SECCG but unfortunately we had a couple weak areas (particularly on defense) that prevented the Tide from executing well enough to beat a very good team.

Maybe "deficient area" is a better way to put it since personnel matchups are sometimes simply one-sided no matter how well one executes. This seems particularly true for secondary play--defensively, one can have perfect technique and positioning for coverage, but unless one has the speed and height to defend his opponent, those "right" things get countered.

Good point, I don't see how UT could have been like Ole Miss last year.
I think UF overlooked Ole Miss in 08, Florida had yesterdays game marked on the calendar since last December.
About the game, If Tebow had not fumbled late in the game yesterday then UF would have made this game look a lot worse for UT. Outcome: 30-6.

Maybe you misunderstood the point I was trying to make. Florida, too, has weaknesses that I'm sure opposing coaching staffs have noticed, but one must have the personnel to exploit them. The Gators were not exposed yesterday; another team just had a little success at slowing them down. Still, as Jay alluded to, the margin of victory could and should have been more than 10 points.

It is very evident that, if you can force Tebow into dropback mode and then prevent him from getting the ball off quickly to his receivers & backs, the S on his chest suddenly disappears.

With the exception of a couple positions, I like what Alabama has to compete against UF but December & the SECGG is still a long season away and won't mean much if the Tide doesn't win the West.
