In 2016, the SEC will require each team to play at least one non-conference game against a major opponent. From Florida-Ohio State to USC-Alabama, here are five we want to see.

  1. Alabama vs USC
  2. A&M vs Longhorns
  3. Ohio State vs UF
  4. LSU vs Michigan
  5. Auburn vs Oregon.

I can't say that I'd put any of these games as "must watch." I would watch the Bama vs USC game—because Bama is playing.

There's only a few scenarios that would have me watching these:

They're neutral site games to kick off the season (wouldn't be any SEC vs SEC games playing.)
It's a Saturday night broadcast and the best SEC games that night is something like UT vs Ole Miss.

interesting match-ups considering several of them have a significant person tied to both programs.

'BAMA vs usc (Lane Kiffin)
ohio state vs uf (urban meyer)
lsu vs michigan (les miles)

Interesting match-up or some interesting conversations leading up to the games?

Michigan is in no way on LSU's level. That would be a another game PETA would complain about.

The point spread might interest me with the OSU vs UF game. I suspect it would be a game where we see UF with no offense, and OSU with an offense that can't do much against UF. Sloppy ballgame.

LSU-Ohio State would be a more appealing match-up to me than LSU-Michigan. I don't care about the Les Miles ties to Michigan, or Urban and Florida. The play of the teams the past few years would make it more interesting. Have Florida and Michigan play each other, then LSU and Ohio State. A more intriguing match-up to me would be Auburn and Stanford.

Bama versus Stanford
Bama versus USC
Auburn versus Stanford (love that pick, bamaraider)
Ohio State versus LSU

Would also like to see Penn State versus Bama soon .. Would love to go to that game, at Beaver Stadium (closer to me right now) .. And with the awesome recruiting classes these two are hauling in for 2015, I think that would be a killer matchup in 2016.

Perhaps Clemson and FSU don't show up in any of these matchups because they already have major SEC opponents each year. I would be more interested in seeing us play Wisconsin than USC.

I don't think they showed up because there wasn't any side-stories to the match-ups. IF Pruitt were still in Tallahassee, that may have been one to include on his list. IMO, it seems all of his games are chosen because of the talking points leading into the game itself—not the matchup in the game.

When Bielema was still there he wanted a home and home with us. CNS wanted a one game season opener type on a neutral field, so we never got the game.

Small edit. Wisky was contacted about playing at a neutral field and Bielema countered with the "I want a home and home." He was told no.

We do have the game. It's the opener for the 2015 season—Jerry's World again.

I suspected at the time that Bielema was overruled by Alverez. I still suspect that.

Coach Franklin is certainly shaking things up in the Big Ten. His comment today made me chuckle (see tweet below). I hate the Big Ten, I love watching them spin....Coach Saban going up to Ohio and masterfully trolling them last week was just awesome.
