Flame away I can handle it.

I am sure the new stadium will look nice once completed, but I just cannot help to wonder how the outfield of a new baseball stadium on the edge of the cliff at Jack Warner Parkway on the old Bryce campus would have looked? That is where my sources tell me one was proposed before the concept was nixed by Battle. Even though we are practically building a new stadium on the grounds of the old one it just seems like we are doing a Coleman-Reno all over again.

Probably pretty cool, I wanted one close to the river myself... or close to the softball/tennis complex... at this point, I'll take what I can get. I think the UA Admin likely has other long-term ideas for most of that Bryce land, and I would imagine that would have been a hurdle. Also, a lot of that land contains contaminated soil that has to be fixed (replaced/cleansed/whatever it is they do) first before any construction can take place, and I don't think that has happened yet (though I could be wrong). Another major reason it wasn't moving was the addition of Sarah Patterson Champions Plaza. It was designed to be an integral part of a new stadium.

I don't think this is the Coleman renovation part II. The Coleman renovation was taking an El Camino and putting a new paint job, stereo system, and cup holders in it. In the end, it was still an ugly as El Camino, only with less leg room thanks to the cup holders. The baseball stadium will be new from he ground up, only the location will be familiar to folks according to people who have seen the plans. And looking at the price tag, there is no reason to doubt it.

Having stated what I stated, I can agree with everything you said. I realize we are not a Land-Grant school with a 1,500 acre campus. Maybe were I am coming from is that the Sewell-Thomas property seems a little closterfobic to me. I seem to remember the enviro-remediation costs of the Bryce property being close to $10 million.

OT: I wonder how many unmarked graves they'll end up finding when they start the environmental cleanup.

We had a creek running through my MawMaw's back yard and you couldn't keep me out of it, one day I saw a copperhead and MawMaw was working in the garden she looked over at me and said "If you get bit by that boy you will wind up in Bryce buried with the unknowns". Of course I had to know what Bryce was and asked her, she told me "if you get caught out in that creek again today you'll find out". I had to ask my Aunt about Bryce and she had no problem telling me it was a place for the  people. I would guess there were rumors about unmarked graves there for a long time.
