šŸˆ šŸ”„ Hot Seat 2025 / Coaching Carousel:

Within the last week you said the defense was subpar. You didn't say the run defense had issues. It was the defense as a whole. That's is not the case.
Ok if I wasn't clear that is and has always been my biggest gripe, the run D. It points to DL issues in my view. Same with not being able to run points to OL issues. All can have other reasons like if the opposing D stacks the box it is harder to run.

What I do want to see is for the run D to be so good that opposing offenses stop trying to run because they know there is no hope in doing so. Another way to help with that is be ahead so far the other team has to pass.

Quick google search gives me this on the Run D - "They rank 52nd in the nation in rushing yards allowed per game, giving up 144.5 yards. ". That is the problem I am referring to when I say subpar.

I get your point if yards are given up late in the game but if you are being honest there is a lot of success earlier in the game also. Most teams if they are down enough they will not get mop up duty yards running the ball because they go into passing mode.

So I saw something on google about Kiffin possibly being offered around $13.5 million a year for 6 years from Florida.

I haven’t seen it anywhere else and can’t seem to find the article from earlier.

It might not have even been an offer rather than wishful thinking by Florida folks.

Satire or fact?

I personally haven't seen or heard anything reliable about any actual offers. It's more than likely rumors right now because that stuff rarely plays out publicly. I did see this earlier, but it's not really anything newsworthy....

He should wait for FSU... even more rabid fan base

I don't know if it's up anymore, or that what he said was true. But there was a guy that covers Florida football that posted something about it last night, and I think it was the same number mentioned here. And from what I saw by the people reacting to this news is that this guy has leaked shit out before, because Florida fans were pissed off and asking him to take it down immediately, lol.

At this point, regardless if any of whats coming out is true or not, I'm not sure what he's gonna do as of right now. I was confident before that he would probably stay at Ole Miss, but now I don't feel as confident right now. We'll see what he does, but I think he would a fool to leave Ole Miss. There's arguments as to that he should take the Florida job, but I personally wouldn't take that job.

Personally, I kinda hope he takes the Florida job but I'm not sure he ultimately will. And I would say anyone who is definitive one way or the other don't know either because he is the Wildest of Wild Cards. He's completely unpredictable. But, he's only going to be able to shake the Ole Miss tree so many times... especially if he doesn't start winning championships soon. His game tomorrow will be an interesting watch... it should be a pretty good game anyway, but if Ole Miss shows up in Norman like Bama did last year... well, I'd say that's good for Florida (for the Gator fans that want him anyway).

I caught wind of similar numbers earlier this week. It wasn't from Florida people I know. One guy has connections in Oxford and he was talking about matching funds with UF. The odd mention was from a UoSC alum and he was talking about the contract of another coach (not Beamer, Kiffin, or the UF job.) I'm not sure which school he was talking about: other side of the table talking with someone else kind of scene.

The post from earlier of your's talking about the meeting Lane had with this team? During a game week before a big game like OU? That has to be a sign of ...

I have a hard time believe stories like that one. However, as we all know, IF that's seriously on his mind we'll know and know PDQ. I wouldn't say today: to me it looks like Venables is already in his head.

Kiffin has gotten better at this but in the past he was easily distracted. Big picture he has likely peaked for himself and at a place like OM.

He has always been just an another good coach that is a little eccentric which helps him standout but for something other than the on field results.

I think he was never fully focused in his early years, chasing women and in the bottle. Three years sober, with his family life back in balance, I think he's positioned to be in a NC mix. I don't think he'll ever coach anywhere else other than Ole Miss, Florida or Alabama.

I agree with that last part 100%

I think he would walk to Tuscaloosa. Luckily, we have our guy.

If the UF thing drags on until the offseason, I 100% think Kiffin would be headed to Gainesville.

I don’t think he would do anything mid season with the chance of getting Ole Miss in the playoffs. Never know what could happen once ā€œinā€

Kanell made a point this morning I find worth sharing. It's a crazy thought when you take it into the context of where we were just a few weeks ago.

Norvell and his team are sitting at 3-4, 0-4, and have the weekend off with Wake coming up in two weeks. Danny suggested FSU could, and needs to, "run the table." I agree with both: they have the talent and the need. For his sake, if anything.

BUT, even if they finish the 8-4 season where does he sit with the fan base? Like Kanell, I don't see that as an easy improvement. Here's the thing that caught me off guard.

Running the table would mean going on the road and beating Clemson. It means beating Florida on the road. There's two games that have been huge in the past and mean what this season? Norvell keeps his job because he beat Florida who just fired ...

If he does take a job elsewhere, hope he keeps Pete.
