An unemployed man...

Gundy in the SEC Shorts.

Mike should receive enough money
This is where it gets interesting.

Okie State and Gundy were in a spat recently about his contract and it ended in a restructured deal: both salary and buyout. He lost a million a year as I recall and also lost that "automatic rollover" on his original deal. That original deal, if he was fired for some wild reason, would have paid him five million less than the new deal.

So, in the end, it looks like he lost a million or so in salary but made another five million in the deal.

That sounds like good agent. Maybe same jimbo had...

Guessing whoever is running T Boones cash now days ain't as user friendly towards Okie State like he was.
He was an oil guy at the beginning, turned into a corporate raiding type, and then made bank with his hedge fund. I'd call him an energy guy and let the semantics police sort it out.

His last/final donation was two years ago; maybe a tad longer. I believe it was $120 million. I know it was the "final" contribution.

When Gundy was about to face Oregon and complaining about their NIL funds I looked at their financials for a minute. Pickens has been the guy for years to the tune of $650 million split between the athletic and academic sides of the school. I can't remember when the first donation was given to OSU. I want to say it was a year or two before Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa. I know it was before the whole 2011 arguments about who should be in the title game.

I know OSU has seen their donor base increase in numbers recently. When I averaged it out a few weeks ago they were receiving $3000 or so per donor. So, logic tells us, a few good size donations and the rest were coming from their version of Tide Pride.

What I don't know is whom? What do they do? I know a good number of OU folks who don't attribute their coffiers to oil money: like we see from the Texas schools. I've never heard Okie State and oil money. Where did he get that impression?

FWIW, it's not like they are poor. I'll have to look up expenses again, but I remember their revenue was about twice that of State (33 million in football in '24.)

VT, UCLA and Oklahoma St. have all fired their head coach this season. I think the seat is hot for Arkansas at some point this year if Pittman does not produce, Fickell and Wisconsin (yes I heard B. Alvarez yesterday) and of course Napier at Florida.

Dont take a bunch of oil moneys to get coffers flowing...
State of Oklahoma is in top 5 of oil producing stae...
Oil money..l..chances of no oil people not being ok state fan... zero
I looked it up. It's not as much as you think. The top ten donors/boosters to Okie State include:
  • Three in the energy business (Two of those three are from the same company which I think is pretty cool.)
  • Golf - Karsten
  • Three hedge fund guys.
  • W & W Steel folks
  • Wireless communications
  • Employment agencies
(I knew Ping / Karsten / et al had a 'relationship.' I didn't realize it was a "Nike, Jr." type deal.)
