Why do you think nobody would take the job? Other than an AD that’s gonna be on some thin ice, it’s a really good job. A “win now” job that’ll provide the needed resources. It's easily a top 10 job.

I'm basing it off of the names I've seen mentioned. The top 3 I consistently see are Dan lanning, Lane kiffin, and Marcus Freeman. All three of those guys are already at great programs that give them all the tools they need to win. The only coach from that list I could see taking the job is kiffin. I just don't see it happening though, but maybe they can surprise me and snag him.

I'm not sure of the validity of it, but Pat Fitzgerald seems to be the favorite to land the Virginia Tech job.

Guys can redshirt and opt not to play if they're eligible for that option, but the open portal right now doesn't do them much good. It was a point I was trying to make the other day... now through the start of November a pretty good time to fire someone if you're going to do it anyway and don't want to deal with players taking the first train out of town.

I've seen dozen's upon dozen's of "Hot Boards" over the years: Hot Board 2.0, then 3.0 ... and I've rarely seen any of them be right.

I did in fact miss that. Last I had heard, which was a while back, there was at least a chance that his fate would be tied to Napier's... there are (or were) some higher ups that were running low on patience with him. I'd imagine that his Golden HR helped him out a lot though.

I don't think Lanning would leave Oregon for the mess that is Florida. That and his buyout is quite expensive. Freeman? Nah. He's just waiting for the opportunity to jump in the Big 10.
