Gundy- people in Stillwater are not happy
Rabbit hole:

Oregon dropped 69 on the Okie's. Their regular season finale last year was at Colorado. They were shut out. The Buff's dropped 52. That's 121-3 in the last two losses. I mean, dayum. *TTU happened to score 56 the week before that game and to be fair OSU scored 48.

I looked at their schedule from 2024. They've lost their last 10 games against FBS teams.

(Y'all might not remember this. In week two of last season they beat UArk by 8 in Stillwater.)

* Y'all might not remember this either. The game against TTU? When the Red Raiders opened their season last year it was against an FCS team: Abilene Christian. TTU won, 52 - 51.

This is Napier’s ā€œsave meā€ season. Losing to USF, and the way they lost, puts him out the door.

Gundy - I don’t know how they keep him. It’s a good school that needs a better coach and should be able to get one. Being a man isn’t going to save him.
I would agree about Napier. I think he’s as good as gone if not before then definitely at the end of the season.

Gundy is gone for sure.

ā— Billy Napier advances toward Florida firing

Napier said the words on every Florida fan’s brain after the Gators shockingly lost 18-16 to South Florida at The Swamp.

ā€œI think it is coaching,ā€ Napier said of the team’s undisciplined play.

Yes, indeed. Coaching remains the issue in Napier’s fourth season, and a loss to an in-state Group of Five school pushes Napier farther down the plank.

An offseason of hype belied the reality that, other than a few wins at the end of last season, Napier has never shown he’s up to this job.

ā€œNot good enough,ā€ Napier said of Florida’s performance.

That assessment could double as the title of a book about Napier’s tenure.

His 20-20 record at Florida designates him as the Gators’ worst coach since the 1940s, not counting interim coaches.

This result had all the hallmarks of a Napier debacle – a barrage of penalties, a special teams blunder and clock management issues. As an added twist, Florida defensive lineman Brendan Bett got ejected for spitting on an opposing player late in the fourth quarter, while the outcome hung in the balance. That penalty, one of 11 for the Gators, advanced South Florida 15 yards closer to its game-winning score.

ā— Mike Gundy advances toward Oklahoma State firing

The Mike Gundy era at Oklahoma State will be remembered about like ā€œInterstellar,ā€ Christopher Nolan’s movie starring Matthew McConaughey. Both were darn good for a while, but they took a sudden turn and ended woefully bad.

On cue, Gundy stuffed himself into a bookcase last week.

He poked the Duck when he made a pointed comment about Oregon’s roster payroll. Leave it to Oregon coach Dan Lanning, a motivational maestro, to use that as extra fuel for a 69-3 thrashing. For Oklahoma State, the closing credits on the Gundy era can’t come soon enough.

I mean really, there's no excuse for Florida to be down this long. That place is a hot bed for recruiting and their athletic department is pretty substantial in terms of money. The athletic department is no Ohio State, but I bet they are top 10 or 20 in terms of net revenue. They can pay players, it just appears they dont have the right guy in place.

Kiffin. But I'm not sure if he takes the Florida job. Is it the really best job he takes?

I got curious about Gundy and wondered how long he has been at OK State.

So, he was hired as the head coach in 2005. His record is actually pretty good- 170-89, with one conference title and a few division titles sprinkled in.

I think he is probably the ceiling at OK State really. Who else are they going to get that would have as much success as Gundy? Maybe some up an coming coordinator that will have success early and bolt for a bigger program after year 3?

Well, I for one would rather him stay at Ole Miss- Just in case we dont have the right guy............hahaha
Florida is gonna want someone who has experience in recruiting and can develop players.

Dan Lanning get pay raise and stays.
Alex Golesh likely will take the UF job of offered.
Lane Kiffin not sure about him. He seem content and just got his life back on track.
Eli Drinkwitz I'm not sure. Lateral move for him?
Jedd Fisch likely take the job.
Lance Leipold I doubt they will go after him.

Glenn Schumann - I think that's the obvious choice.

I think they would fall all over Kiffin to get him. I don't know if he would take the job though. The rest of that list, Lanning and Schumann would probably be the only names I'd consider.

If Flordia makes a move, I think they go for a homerun. I doubt they get anyone that's "up and coming".......they've tried that for a while now and it's almost always backfired. I guess the question would be, who and who would want that mess?

According to my brother (UF alum). There’s a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to the administration. Napier doesn’t have full control of the program or the narrative in Gainesville. He’s (my brother) just about given up on the football program.
They’re also gun shy after Meyer. He left that place in chaos and doing damage control. The ends didn’t justify the means, in that case.
