This surprises me. His name will be on the hot seat list to begin 2026.
Now, whoās still on the list for 2025? Stoops at Kentucky? Deion at Colorado? Fickell is safe at Wisconsin. Locksley is safe at Maryland. Others?

I think kids will take tough coaching if you are just as tough defending them from criticism and other outside negative influences. If you convince them that itās all a battle and youāre all in it together I think someone with a tough attitude can make it work.I think tough coaching would still work but it would be vital to get kids that can take it instead of the soft primadonnas that make up a large part of today's athletes.
May not be the best athletes but you'd get more consistency than with players who don't seem to have consistent effort from week to week.
The same things win that always won. And we just have a different bunch of excuses if we lose.A pretty good coach one time said same things win that always won everything else is just different excuses. May not be exsct quote but close and one I fundamentaly believe. It is has been true my 60+ years on in this world.
Yeah I knew I did not capture the quote exactly but captured the jest of it.The same things win that always won. And we just have a different bunch of excuses if we lose.
Not picking on you, just posting it for posterity.
I think some will. I know every generation says the younger generation is different, and we are to a point, but man it seems people are so thin skinned, focused on me, and just generally get their feelings hurt easily. We had guys quit but they were the exception. Same in the Navy, a couple quit in my division but not many. I was talking to a recruiter who said it's about 20% lately, I would say ours was 5ish. Point is I feel like you have to be a better judge of character these days and find the ones who won't quit on you but I think it's the only consistent way to win. Well that or have a big 10 schedule.I think kids will take tough coaching if you are just as tough defending them from criticism and other outside negative influences. If you convince them that itās all a battle and youāre all in it together I think someone with a tough attitude can make it work.
I mean obviously the money is better but can he, or pretty much anyone, consistently win there? I think I'd rather make a million a year as dc than go somewhere I can't really compete with the upper part of the conference and have to deal with hc issues in a place like that. They are very interested him him, and the interest is mutual. I don't believe he is ther #1 as of now, but the more they get told "no", the closer that gets, IMO.

I can see that, the ties pulling. Didn't know that part of his history.I think the Vandy situation is showing that with the right moves, even a lesser SEC team can make some playoff waves on any given season. Do I think long term heād be the answer? No. But very few would.
But the money heād get for trying to make it work is obviously pretty substantial. And thatās hard to turn down. Plus, he started his playing career there. His dad started his coaching career there. Sometimes those ties tend to pull.
It's been posted all over. CAL is interested in Grubb.Well not going to say where I saw this BUT!! Grubb to California?
