🏀 FIRE AVERY

Greg Byrnes has the biggest decision in front of him since he took the job as AD. April 15 means a lot more to Tide fans that when Uncle Sam wants his money. This year it's when the buyout becomes at least manageable at 6 million. If it's not about the money then he should never see April. Either way, this basketball team is through with this coaching staff. The players quit on him again last night and by the look of the crowd, the fans have had enough of this version of Bama basketball. Bynes was there and he knows better than most how fast this situation has become downright brutal. AJ wants his money and he's not leaving on his own volition. That was clear from his presser. It's time for Greg Brynes to go to his Rolodex and find the next man up, cause this project has come-a-cropper.

That decision he made with the baseball program was pretty big! Firing Goff and landing Bohannon. In a single season, Goff nearly managed to KILL the baseball program, not mire it in mediocrity.

Quote...…..I spoke with someone in the know BEFORE the dreadful performance last night and can tell you that CAJ was Donzo like Gonzo at the end of the season regardless of what happened in the NIT. The target is already locked in and the shakeup with the players is expected to be minimal. The target has been contacted, he will not be someone foreign, he will not be someone that will overexcite anyone on this board but he will be an improvement and he has been mentioned on this board multiple times. All I have to say is that he does have some connection to UA...

so there you have it sports fans

Probably what would have been said 4 years ago!!!!!!!!!
Who really didn't think AJ would be a huge success. Had everything covered.
Star player. Star coach. Personal. Energetic
Has it all. But what is missing????????
Is the Mike Shula of the b-ball program
How could they not be successful??????
Type coaches you want ur kids to play for.

Antonio McDyess? Ha Ha, joking.

When the commentators at ESPN mentioned what a great job the SEC had done upgrading coaches like Pearl, Howland, Martin and Barnes did anyone notice Avery's name was never mentioned.

That may very well be the case. If so the number of butts in seats for next season will be bad.

Col Meyers...What's your assessment of this exercise?
Gunny Highway... It's a cluster fuk.

That's what folks have to do, though. People think that yelling on Twitter or Facebook is enough, but you talk with your wallet. If no ones going to the games, a change has to be made.

Prohm at Iowa State maybe?

I would have no problem with him he is a Bama grad and was under consideration when they replaced Grant. I'm sure he is on their radar again.
I know K. Sampson has had some NCAA issues I hope he is considered he can recruit and coach. Take a look at Houston in the tournament.

If it's Prohm, I'm definitely not excited.

He has a great overall record, but the bulk of his wins came at mid-minor/directional schools. His record in a major conference is almost identical to Avery's. Couple sneak sneak up wins over top ranked teams, but overall right around ~. 500.

Do not want.

I was just going off of the UA connection that was mentioned. I did look up his Iowa State numbers and he has compiled a 83-52 record in his 4 seasons in Ames with 3 20+ win seasons. His conference record does turn your stomach at 35-37 but he does have 2 Big 12 Tournament Titles in his pocket('17&'19).

Here's my question though, and you know I've been as down on Avery as anyone else, but who do you get? Let's say you're one of the top coaches in the country are you coming to Bama? The perception is that no one cares about basketball here. I even saw people sharing Alabama's "fundraiser" for the Coleman renovations and making jokes about Alabama not caring enough about the basketball programs to even spend money itself, they want to spend everyone elses money. Granted that's just perception but perception is a strong thing.
