📡 Federal lawsuit claims Louisiana College president refused to hire football coach because of his “Jewish blood.”

See, I have a little bit of an issue with that and the reason I feel that way is because that is no different than the extremist Muslims that pervert their religion and twist it into something else. Moderate Muslims dont get that benefit of the doubt of "those others aren't real Muslims," they all get lumped into one category there.

Now, granted I'm not religious in any sense and I personally think all of it is silly, but I know there are people of all faiths that use certain things or twist certain things to fit their sick minds and pervert what should be a positive thing.

Sounds like @TerryP is just stating a familiar truth that all Bama fans should be able to get their arms around.

Everyone who has ever discriminated against me for my heritage was a Christian. I even had a Christian friend disown me for it in the 4th grade. There are definitely a fair proportion of confused and hateful Christians sadly but there's always a few idiots in every group.

Jews are not historically liked by many people though. Was just using a few examples, half in jest.

Yes there are idiots everywhere. Heard a coworker making a statement the other day about why Jews are hated. With a smile on his face he said well they did kill Jesus.
That cracked me up

We stand with Israel as a country and they have always supported us. We could learn a lot about security for our schools from them. For no real reason they have been persecuted for centuries. In my christian background I have never heard preaching against jews. But as an Episcopal I have heard the Baptist condemn us for the drinking we do. But, hey the Baptist can't have sex standing up because someone might think they are dancing.

It's ok to laugh about this stuff but just take it with a grain of salt. We are all God's children.

There are idiots in every religion, culture, social group, sports fan base, etc. I try to ignore them as best I can but sometimes they sure are loud! :D

Yet, what I said about Christians fits what you're saying here as precisely as it did there.

I'm reminded of what MLK said when he asked not to be judged by the color of his skin but by his character. How do you judge one's character? By their actions, right?

I do find your statement filled with irony when mentioning "Moderate Muslims dont get that benefit of the doubt." I've seen you do the same thing to anyone who believe this "progressive" movement is the right direction for this country. Just because they oppose it and voice their opinions they've been labeled as "Fox News" people. That said, at least you don't fall into the category of calling everyone that stands on the opposite side of your views "racist, bigoted, etc."

Now, granted I'm not religious in any sense and I personally think all of it is silly, but I know there are people of all faiths that use certain things or twist certain things to fit their sick minds and pervert what should be a positive thing.

I'm left scratching my head here, bird. While it's your choice not to be "religious," to label those that hold convictions close and have a relationship with God as "silly?" Would you call the beliefs and convictions of a guy like Andrew Brunson silly? While he and I won't see eye to eye on some things I'll not be found as one who questions or mocks his beliefs.

So, if someone uses certain information or has certain beliefs, then they have sick minds and pervert things? WTH? So if I am pro-gun/ support the NRA/ believe in the 2A, but I use the argument that pro-choice/pro-abortion kills more people in a given day than guns, then I have a sick mind because I use facts?

I think we have laws in place that frown against discriminating against others due to race, sex, religion, etc.

Boy, you jumped out on a limb there didn't ya? Speaking of twisting words... how in the hell did you twist what I just said to mean what you typed out? Like literally nothing you said made any sense whatsoever about what I said lol.

No. 1, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what the NRA or the second amendment has to do with the bible. No. 2, I was referring to the way that people with certain racial or social beliefs will twist words in the Bible, Quran, etc. to justify their prejudices or hatred. How you gained something about gun rights and abortion is beyond me.

What you said there is false. There are a ton of people on the opposite side of my views that I talk to on a daily basis that I dont find as simply Fox News, Hannity, Breitbart followers. The only people I consider to be those people are the ones that harped on a birth certificate (and still do) for a decade or will spurt out flatly falsely things they read from a Facebook meme or Breitbart article. I've never once labeled you a "Fox News person" have I?

I dont think people that are religious are silly. My parents are deeply religious. My wife is somewhat religious. I find religion itself silly. It's just my opinion. Same as those that find atheists to be "stupid." And I haven't mocked anyones beliefs here, so I dont get where you're going with that. I can find something that someone believes in to be silly without finding the person to be dumb or silly themselves.

Didn't really climb out on a limb. It's called a comparison @Birdman37 . Maybe I assumed that you would be able to figure that out. Go back and try again.

So, you ignore the rest of my post? Either you completely misunderstood what I was saying or you just twisted ti for whatever reason.

Instead of pulling some scripture and giving it a certain meaning, I used the recent events of the Florida HS shootings and the argument people want to give about it being a gun issue or a person issue. You were the one to say that anyone who used facts to aid their argument or “twist” the words in their favor are sick or perverted. Damn Bird!!

You are once again twisting my words, man. I never once said anything about facts. Sorry to burst your bubble but there is very little "fact" (or at least verifiable, provable fact) in the bible. But again you're twisting what I said into something completely the opposite of what I was talking about. We were talking about vial, hateful, racist people. Those that took words from the bible and twisting them into justifying that slavery was okay. Same as those that twist words from the Quran into meaning there will be a special place in heaven for them if they kill innocent Christians. Same as those that twist words into the bible as meaning that "black people are cursed" or that inner-racial marriage is a sin. Same people that twist stories in the bible into meaning Jews are evil people. So, yes those people are sick or perverted people and if that makes me a bad person for saying then so be it.

@Birdman37 see how when we don’t get specific how things get misunderstood. LOL
We both get defensive about it. The downfall of society shining bright via social media. Easy to misinterpret things.
Your initial statement was vague, so I responded in kind saying “well everyone is like that then?” No big deal!!!

As far as the Bible goes, I’ll simply disagree with you. My faith tells me otherwise.

But see, I wasn't being vague. We were talking about certain Christians hating Jews. That's what my whole post was about there.

I had ignored this thread. Regrettably, I succumbed to temptation and viewed it. '37, did you hit your head while you were pulling off all those sick moves playing high school basketball? Them boys from Luverne really roughed you up. What's your vertical these days? '93, defending the faith is admirable, but this whole thread was doomed from the start. As a fellow number name, I feel I can call you by truncated numerical nicknames. Love, '11.

I didn't grow up in Luverne but I'm glad you feel the need to try and personally attack me because I dont share your views. Glad that makes you feel better about yourself.

This post makes the bandwidth spent worthwhile.

Only time I ever got hit with a T was the only time I ever got thrown out (and then suspended for the rest of the year) lol Me and this guy from Luverne were getting into it all game. He wanted to play real physical, so I played physical right back at him. At one point he slaps my hand away and says "get off me faggot" or something along those lines. That leads to a couple of shoves and a T for each of us.

Next time down court I block his layup attempt and just smirk at him. He says F-U to me, no T. I steal an inbound pass a few minutes later and as I'm up in the air he grabs me and slams me down as hard as a human can be slammed. I immediately popped up and punched him in the mouth. I'm gone at that point but my top had blown off and I started cursing every Luverne player around and the refs. I actually was so pissed I didn't just go to the locker room, I went home. Coach was not pleased and told me I could stay home the rest of the year (there were only 2 games left in regular season lol). Got into a fight with the same kid in a football camp a few months later too lol
