🏈 Fan Day Autographs

Hey everybody. I'm a new member in need of some advice. I'm thinking about going to the autograph session at fan day and need some helpful tips from some of the old pros out there. I'm guessing that you probably have to try for either Coach Saban or players. Forty five minutes goes by fast. How early do I really need to get there to line up? Would really like to hear some of yall's experiences. Any help would be greatly appreciated. RTR!!!

If you really wanna get an autograph from someone like Saban or AJ you're gonna have to line up super early, I think they usually start lettin ppl line up bout 1:30 but if u do that your gonna miss seeing practice. And then you're gonna have to race people to the tables, literally. People start running to get their first. Me, I'd much rather watch the practice and if I get a autograph or two cool.

Birdman's always dead on... If you want Saban's autograph, send a pic, or a football or whatever, or just ask for a signed pic in a letter to Saban's office. I was there once and all this stuff was out between his office and his sec's desk and he goes by and signs stuff and moves it to the signed pile and then she sends it out. If it's something YOU send, be nice and enclose a prepaid shipping envelope or box label to send it back to you and you'll get in a week or two... Saban says it's weird sometimes what people want signed but he signs it all...

You definitely have to decide, watch practice and get a few autographs or get there several hours before the team even gets to the stadium to simply stand in line to get more autographs. I carried my son in 09 and we started by watching pratice and then moved back outside to get in the line for autographs. When we stepped onto the field, 30 minutes were left and CNS' line was already closed and Julio's stretched the entire length of the field. We quickly decided to just hit as many players as we could before the clock hit 0:00.

Wait, really?! This is probably a dumb question but what's the address?!

Thanks for the tips everybody. I appreciate it. I always heard the autograph part of fan day was a mad house. I'm glad to hear Coach signs through the mail. I thought that his office was always so overwhelmed with autograph requests that he was unable to accomodate mail in items. I will definitely try to send something before practice starts. Thanks for posting the address Birdman!

They should only sign for kids, that would fix a lot of it.

Agreed, I think its cool to get an autograph every now and then. Hell, my autographed Julio Jones football is one of my prized possessions lol But seeing grown ass men fighting over a signature is ridiculous especially when u will sometimes see a grown person pushing a kid out of the way. Kids should go to the front of the line at the least.

Yeah, I agree. I guess that's why I have always backed out of going to fan day. I would love to get Coach's autograph in person but, I'm not willing to push and shove people out the way to do it. I don't mind waiting in line simply because, for me, it would probably be a one time event. But, it's like Birdman said. It's a bit disturbing when they open the gate and grown people are literally running over anyone in their path to get to the tables. I know they only have forty five minutes but, dang.

I would say fan day is still very worth it. Its not like fans get a chance to actually watch practice in person much. I understand you're gonna have your kid with you so I guess it would depend on his age. A young one isnt gonna wanna sit there and watch practice, it will be all about the autographs for him. An older kid would probably get more out of it.

In 1993 or 1994 (I think) it was raining and they moved the autograph session inside the indoor practice facility. Coach Stallings would shake everyone's hand, sign his name and stand up to have a photo made with you. When we got to his table, he thanked us for coming and waiting in line. I asked him how long had he been signing autographs and he said "I've been here 3 hours and won't leave until the room is empty." He is definitely one of a kind.

Different time. Then came eBay. Now every schmo trying to make a few bucks and wants to get things signed to sell. You can't blame them but they are mucking it up for everyone. I wish they'd make it for kids only and one item per person. Its also not controlled very well. I have been to events that are run much better.

I really hate the people that go just to get stuff to sell on ebay. Thats also why alot of coaches/players now make you give them a name to sign it to because its harder for people to resell those autographs if its addressed to a particular person.

It takes too much time and leaves room for error. Much like the picture signed to me by Jay Barker he signed to Jimmy. Great but my name is Jamie. :headscratch:
