šŸˆ Fall Camp, 2025: News, notes, observations : 'Meat Church' cooks BBQ for the Tide.

Those guys in the trenches butt heads all of the time. Likely did it in a drill. When my son was in HS, he suffered 3-4 concussions. Each time, I carried him to the Dr and I learned that what we grew up knowing ā€œgetting our bell rung or seeing starsā€ was in fact a concussion. I figured that from my time in junior high thru 2 years as a walk on, I suffered as many as 8 concussions, maybe more.
In the days before today (I’m not saying old days), the head was used as a weapon. You led with your head when tackling. As a result there was a lot of bell ringing. Many times you just got up and went to the huddle as teammates slapped you on the head to congratulate you. If you were lucky, someone would substitute in to give you a break. I couldn’t tell you how many bell ringings/concussions I’ve had. It was many more than one.

I was 120lbs when I graduated high school. When I played I wasn’t afraid to hit anyone until… there was a 300lb offensive lineman leading a running back and I thought I could ā€œget himā€ but nope, that was my first concussion!šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Agreed! I will say that my worst concussion occurred during my freshman year of HS on the baseball field. I was playing center field, when a ball was hit in the gap toward left. I was calling for it, but apparently, the left fielder was as well. About the time the ball hit my glove, we slammed into each other, my shoulder crushing his nose in the process and sending me into the air, slamming down on my head and neck area first. When I came to, all I saw was blue sky. The first person to me was my dad, who had been in the stands. First question he asks, not if I’m ok or how many fingers do I see, it was ā€œwhat’s the first thing I taught you about playing the outfield?ā€ I replied, ā€œcall for the ball!ā€ I then asked did I catch it and when he told me that the ball popped free when we collided, I let 3-4 vulgarities fly. First time I ever did that in front of my Dad!

I don't know about y'all, but I would love to see him on our staff. I don't see that happening, but I've been wrong before.

He said some nasty things about Alabama that were recorded from the locker room. He’s not a fit at Alabama.

He’s had coaching stops in the SEC at Tennessee, Ole Miss and LSU. Next stop . . . Auburn.

Well :poop:
I'm not concerned with this. Young needs the reps, Hill is going to be fun to watch, and we'll see some flashes with Washington.

IF all goes well he'll be back by UGA.

This isn't surgical although you are put under. I understand it was a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint (collarbone to breastbone.) In my mind I compare it to rotator cuff injuries: there's so much motion that "runs through" that joint. It's pretty dense with blood vessels as I recall and that can be a bump in the road. Rehab, for the joint strength, and then it's how much pain can he manage?

I get that what he said may bother people, but personally.... I don't really care. It's a competitive sport, things like that are said all the time. Plus, we kicked his teeth in the next year and then beat him again in 21. I'd say we got our get back.

Funny how he wants back in the game a few weeks after he's ordered to fork over $8 million to his ex. But anyway......

Orgeron is toxic in every sense of the word. There's a thread bouncing around here re: Rush Propst. There are some similarities there between those 2. Maybe he finds a spot again as a position coach, maybe back in the NFL with the Saints or some other squad. But if any team rolls the dice on him being their HC, they are gambling a lot and odds aren't in their favor. Even at LSU, his dream job, he let it all crumble in pretty spectacular fashion. Some of the stories of his final year there were hard to believe, even for him. Basically, he checked out (quit) on his team and just let it sink.

Last but not least, this day in age in college football, there's so much to manage. Even if you delegate most all of it, you have to surround yourself and delegate to people who can get the job done well. Without a better way to frame it, I'll just say it like this: Orgeron is simply not smart enough to do any of that and achieve sustained success.
