🏈 🙄 Agiye Hall: “One thing that really stood out is the culture. Bama fans — they’re not really loving, if I could say — even when you leave.

And when facing one of the best defenses in the nation? Whew!

How when their OL isn't good enough to hold Braswell, Andreson and Turner at same time? Won't have time to have to let play develop long enough for deep plays.

Dude, I simply don't understand why you think it's impossible for anyone to do anything against us. Even with those same badasses on defense we got burnt multiple times deep last year. We cannot expect Turner and Anderson to do it all, every play, and simply think they'll save the rest of the team from doing their job. Kool-Aid has to step it up, a lot. Jackson will get his chance, and I know Ricks can play. But it's still a concern when we saw Moore take a step back last season. Branch and Battle are solid, but the deep ball still concerns me.

Even with the issues on the OL this team with a healthy WR core smoked the dawgs. I would expect the same would have happened if that WR core was not decimated in the NC game. Reemphasize even with the weaker OL. This tells me how good BY and the skill guys were.

But it's still a concern when we saw Moore take a step back last season.
I wonder if there's a plateau in play here because of his injury. I feel teams attacked him more often because he never was at 100%.

I haven't read that 'tone' from what @Justneedme81 has been saying. 🤷‍♂️ I see a lot of optimism. If things continue to get better in the middle this defense is going to be good.

Too much optimism that borders arrogance. I am more realistic. This team most definitely should win the Natty, I've been saying that. I've also noticed a shift in college football where there are about four or five title worthy teams. It's no longer Alabama, and everyone else. While we still just win, we are forced to reload every year like everyone else. With the portal, we lose players like everyone else. With NIL, we lose out on guys like everyone else. Obviously with our success we lose players early to the draft and coaches to other opportunities more than others. All of that tempers my expectations anymore, plus it's ok to notice perceived weaknesses. The deep ball still concerns me is all.

Finding a new offensive line with no clear cut All-American like in the past is a concern to me after issues from last year and it only being a bigger challenge without an anchor like Neal, Leatherwood, Williams, Robinson, Jones, Kelly, Fluker, Smith etc. With the class we brought in, I was excited. Seeing we are heading into Year 2 of this class and unsure if anyone will step in has me concerned. I understand it takes time. I have been on that side of giving guys a chance more times than not on here, especially when Josie gets rolling, but I still would have preferred to see a guy standout like a lot of the other five star lineman we have hit on that played early.

All this being said, we have zero reason not to win it all this year. We have a ton of weapons, proven ones, that should give guys a chsnce to grow during the season.

There is no question about that. No OC worth his salt would not do so & keep doing it until he stops us.

This also happened against Jawja in the NC game when Armor-Davis was out. They just kept throwing at his true freshman replacement. That bomb TD pass was just Bennett throwing it in the end-zone hoping his guy would catch it. He did that pass all season long BTW & it finally paid off.

Just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Sark is creating a culture of “just win”. He has probably already made up his mind to start Hall at WR. If not, Hall will be a cancer to this team. If things don’t go Hall’s way he will be in the doghouse before the season even starts.

It's not really about arrogance or anything. I've looked at the last 4 games of offense/defense and then compared them to spring camp. I factor in who's leaving and who's staying, and who's likely to step up and that's where I draw my conclusion based on the data, and I don't see any reason for Defense to take a step back this fall, especially with emergence of Braswell, Anderson and Turner with a solid LB and CB play... That's lot of experience on Defense, so its rare to have experienced defense to take a step back under Saban.

Under Saban's, the DL set the tone of the play, and if they can generate enough pressure up front then it allows LBs to make play, we're in good hands. You made it sound like the OLBs are doing all of the work, and I never said that. They play a huge role on the defense. Will Anderson and Turner are hard to blow on consistent basis, so they are very good.

As far as OL, I'm not really concerned about them as of now, because we have new OL coach, and they need time to gel and Summer/Fall camp will provide that. I"ll worry about them when that time comes.. We'll know something by 2nd or 3rd game if we got issue or not.

I've noticed you have brought up NIL so many times.... Let me ask you this: have it affected Alabama in negative way in regard to NIL Deals? Have we lost a player to transfer portal of NIL yet? Have the player used the portal to get NIL with Alabama? Saban operates differently from others.
I doubt Saban will let NIL drive one of the Bama players to the portal...

I want to point out this: LSU/ Georgia lost lot of players/coaches to NFL/ opportunities after winning Championship. Alabama just happened to win more championships in past 10 years and that's why we lose so many players/coaches.. This is nothing new... We know how to manage that.

Now on Deep ball.... sighs

I'm not understanding why you're concerned about the deep ball play. This past season, the DBs had the following:

Alabama’s DBs played in position most of the year and were generally in phase with their man; there weren’t a litany of opponents scampering freely through the secondary like gazelle in the Garden of Eden. Unlike 2019, the DBs were very ball aware too — players weren’t getting their heads around late on passes, and giving up easy conversions (that way, at least).
  • Alabama was a respectable 29th in YPA, allowing 6.9 per toss.
  • Alabama was T-14th in the country in INTs forced, picking off 15 in 15 contests.
  • 3rd down completion percentage was very good, particularly on shorter passes where the positional play was able to be exploited.
There's a chart that tracks the Deep ball Bama gave up last season.
+30 yards- 19 <-- half of that were on 3rd and 4th downs. That was our majority of our issues.
+40 yards- 9
+50 yards -5
+60 yards- 3
+70 yards and more- 1

No. The same can't be said. It's a highlight. The offensive line for the fall hasn't practiced together, ya know? As the Vegas saying runs ..."don't know shit."

Good reports though.
Optimistically I see this as a positive because there is an experienced/talented guy coming into the fold.

Although it's a little concerning, because as noted, these groups need time to gel. Is it just me or has there been a lot of real shuffling late in fall camps to find the best 5? Like, really late. Don't know if that was the old OL coach or CNS... Or the circumstances... But having more time together is always a positive and it seems like that's been an issue.

I haven't felt like there's any more shuffling than normal. I tend to mention a lot happening each season before camp begins always pointing to "we'll know in the fall."

The starting five against Miami remained that way until rest/injury.

I was thinking Owens wasn't being reported at RT until right before that game (and he was at center or guard leading up). I could be wrong though!

A guy I'm really excited about McGlaughlin pushing that center spot forward. There is real competition there and that only makes him and Dalcourt better. In my mind there is a lot of reason for optimism with the OL... Early cohesiveness just isn't one of them (Vandy kid, Ekiyor injury, etc)

Other than Ferguson, is there another young OL really in the mix? A freshman that can make a run in fall camp? Looking for a young cat to establish themselves as a future star...

Ferguson comes out of spring second team left guard leaving out Ekiyor, Steen joining, etc. He's taking snaps as a back up center. In a nutshell, he's basically a three. I don't know if he'd get reps before Jaeden Roberts.

A freshman? I'm still pointing to the same guy I did before spring camp; Booker.

First off, that's a lot of deep ball passes. 30 yards is deep to me and turns the field over. That is a ton given up. Seeing as Kool-Aid struggled, Jackson is a new starter, and Ricks is a transfer in, you wonder why I have concerns??? I think they'll do fine, but one can still have concerns. All of those stats above were with two seniors manning each side, one a multi-year starter! The other guys started filling in when the mentioned two got injured, yet we still gave up longer plays. Not sure how you can't draw that conclusion.

As far as NIL, I simply stated it's the reason we won't get players. Do we even need to bring up Texas A&M and a few guys favoring us in this last class that all of a sudden are nowhere to be found? NIL is weighing heavy on guys like Brandon Innis and whether he wants NIL at USC, coaching at Alabama, or to stay at home with Miami/Florida. We have been fortunate to see stability with NIL so far, but what's to say we have any clue what is really happening begind the scenes? We have no clue, but it could have been part of the issue with Agiye Hall to go along with other things. Saban isn't letting any problems play out in the media, we know that. You think it's all sunshine and rainbows though?

As far as your comments about us winning, you're right, we weather the storm better than anyone, but other programs are stealing Championships from us here and there. Clemson beat us twice, Georgia beat us, we lost to eventual Champion LSU, Ohio State is always lurking, but the gap has been closed. It's plain as day to see it's not just us with a good shot at winning it all anymore. Georgia and Ohio State are right there with us.
