At the end of December, the Recruiting Staff here at RollTideBama.com took a look at the graduating class.

In Exit Exams: A Final Review of the Tide Senior Class they looked at players like Rashad Johnson basing their observations on how he was ranked coming out of high school versus what kind of career he had at Alabama.

Continuing with that theme, Recruiting Analyst Jason Argo (Argo) has put together another edition of RTB.com's Exit Exams. This time he's taking a look at two games, the US Army All-American game and the Under-Armour All-American game.

It's a brief look at the high school seniors as we draw closer to National Signing Day of 2009. Here's a brief look at some of the Alabama commitments along with a few of the prospects still on our "recruiting board."

Exit Exams- Recruiting: Grading the All-American Games

I'll tell ya, the more I hear about Darren Myles the more and more I like him!

Couple of notes to add...

It certainly looks to me like Chris Bonds is going to need a year in our program before he'll be able to contribute. But, considering his bouts with injuries the last two years, it's not surprising he isn't in "game shape" when compared to some of the other players.

Speaking of "game shape," one of the the things that always entertains me is seeing recruits receive lower grades because they aren't in as good of shape as some of the others on the field. Even in terms of talent, but seemingly they discount what impact college level conditioning has on these kids. To say the least, it's one of those "evaluations" I don't tend to pay attention to that much.

On the other hand, and this may seem contradictory, when I see "every down player" on defense (especially with LB'ers and DLmen) I tend to be more impressed...always thinking about short yardage vs long yardage and their ability to play both.

Easily, another top 5 class coming in...a couple of coups here and there and who knows where the team will end up.

Needs are being filled. That's the bottom line!!

Just remembered...

I thought it was amusing hearing Nico recap how LSU commit Chris Davenport was on his this past week as well.

Davenport had asked him if "he was going to come on down to LSU with him?"

"No."

Davenport went on to ask, "what will it take to get you to come down to LSU?"

To paraphrase, it was a "not a damn thing would work" type of response.

He should have told him he'd be down there in 2010
on the Bama team plane. :D :D :D

“Darren understands the safety position as well as any safety has coming out of the state of Georgia has in the last couple of years. He’s a real student of the game, and if he ends up at Alabama he could easily “quarterback” the defense much the way Rashad Johnson has the last two seasons.”
This was the quote that really jumped out at me. IMO this will be a MAJOR need in '09 & Darren seems to fit the bill perfectly.
