people (and i use that term loosely when speaking about "reporters" like this) that make laughable predictions like this always make me ask, "wtf are you smoking?!"
if someone were to pick ALABAMA or ohio state to win it all, then that wouldn't be a sexy pick or one that would raise any suspicions as both of these teams have recently won it. but if they made that pick and either of them had a bad season or lost their first game in the playoffs, then it might be a shock.
but going against the odds and picking a team hardly anyone else is expecting to do anything good, much less great, is like picking up a handful of darts and throwing all of them at once at a dart board over and over and over again. yeah you'll have a LOT of misses and occasionally you'll get close. then, when you say you'll hit the bulls-eye and DO hit that bulls-eye once out of every 100 throws then you look like a prophet. hell, anyone can do that. but these people do it to spark talk and generate ratings, no matter how absurd they seem. they do it in hopes of looking like a predictor of the future where they can say, :i was the only one who knew what they would do."
when, in reality, all they're doing is setting themselves up for failure. gamblers do the same thing in vegas day in and day out. they only make the big bets, not thinking about all the money they're losing, only how much they could "possibly" win. me? i always take the safe bet, the sure bet, the ONLY bet that will get me a win. you'll hear a bunch of people say, " you can't win big if you don't bet big". while that's true, what happens to all the money (or reputation, as it were) you lose in the process? you can try to win it back a little at a time, but there are no guarantees.
that's why i'll always bet on 'BAMA, good or bad, high or low.
to me, that's the safe bet.
