We should start seeing how the new committee will size up the rankings. Some of the articles and radio shows are saying that the final four will not be based on the rankings but distributed around the other conferences. So we will not see the top 4 teams to determine a national champion, but more of a top team from each conference compete for the national title. That doesn't look good for us unless we have a lot of luck with other teams in the west helping us to make it to the SEC championship game.
I don't expect the committee's rankings to be as SEC top heavy as they are now. I suspect teams like Oregon & Michigan St will be represented in the top four of the rankings seeing that conference champions/leaders will more than likely be given a lot of weight. I suspect to see Alabama drop outside of the top four along with Ole Miss. My guess is it will be 1. Miss St, 2. FSU, 3. Oregon and either 3. K-State, Michigan St. or Notre Dame rounding out the top four. I just don't see them keeping four that many SEC teams in the top four. Especially on their initial rankings.
i think it is entirely possible that the big 10 will have a will have a 2 loss champ. that will exclude them from the top 4. my gut feeling is htat Mich state wins out though. they should have a spot if so given their only loss will be to a one loss oregon team.
the question is about TCU, k-state and baylor at this point. If one of them wins out, IMO they deserve a shot. K-State could hang with Auburn and WV gave Alabama a game and that helps them overall in their appearance unless the barn or Tide implodes.
The PAC-12 will send Oregon unless they find a way to lose like they usually do.
I don't see 2 SEC teams making it into the top 4 this year. Honestly, I can't see any SEC team making it through undefeated this year. Ole Miss and State are both beatable. the only way i see 2 teams making it from the SEC is if Auburn or Alabama win out and whoever wins the Egg Bowl goes to the SECCG... then i could see the scenario where barn or Tide goes also.
Isn't this possible???
i really don't feel like doing the math to determine all the 1-loss scenarios.... i guess i should just enjoy the season and watch the magic unfold yet again in favor of the Tide.
Too many possibilities now to cover them all. By the end of the second weekend of November Auburn or Georgia will be out of the mix. K State might run the table, but with the games they have left it will be like running a mine field. ND is unlikely to win out. Most likely Ohio State or Sparty will win the B1g with one loss.
Not singling you out, just using a sentence to express a point.
...just enjoy the season and watch what happens with the committee before damning their decisions... That's something I wish every fan would do. IF they made a bad decision, then let all hell rain down no matter who it benefits or screws over.
Even if the SEC has two teams with one loss, I still don't see the committee picking two from the same conference. Pac 12, B1G, SEC, ACC, Big 12 and the other ones.
I still believe that two SEC teams get in, and one of those will be Bama if we win out AND the only scenario that would keep us out (Ole Miss is undefeated until an SECCG loss against a one-loss UGA) doesn't take place. If that happens, I think UGA and Ole Miss go.
