I'm a bit amused with the word ignorant as a descriptor when you're asserting they're qualified due to going to school. Qualified to be in front of a camera? Sure. Qualified to offer analysis? Meh.

@bradenob Earlier I mentioned Samatha Ponder. Her dad is currently coaching overseas. His resume includes football and basketball on a professional level. (We'll leave her husband out of this but I'd love to hear one of their dinner conversations about football sometime.) Growing up in that house, following her dad's every move? Yah, she's got a pretty solid foundation in commenting on football, IMO.

There are guys that I don't think belong in the booth. Hell, I've heard Matt Millen say idiotic things more in one game than I've heard from Ponder her entire career.

Where does this myth that you can go to the "lowest" plan on a cable provider and not have ESPN come from?

Dish Network's lowest possible plan has three ESPN channels, DirecTV's lowest plan has three ESPN channels and both local cable companies here (cant speak on any others) lowest basic cable plan has two ESPN channels.

Exactly - you have to have knowledge of the sport. And I have been watching the sports I am talking about - football, baseball, for a LONG time. I have a great appreciation for them, and I played them in high school, so I have a player's perspective, an appreciation for what it takes to play, and a long study of the game. I know all three game's histories very well. So I want people's perspective that share that knowledge, and appreciation.

Name me a female reporter that can say that. You can't, and admittedly, I can't say that any ONE of them may HAVE all of the above, but I doubt it. How many of them have kept up with pro or college football, or baseball, spent hours watching games and reading articles and discussing it with compatriots?? Sure, they wear nice dresses and have good make up, but they aren't doing their own reporting. The ones I am thinking of, and I am sorry that I don't remember their names, are just using talking points. I don't like it, and I don't need to apologize or feel ignorant for my attitude. It's no different in news commentators in politics - I would rather listen to Doug Schoen, or Chris Wallace. These are RESPECTED commentators who have been doing it for a long time, and do it well. They have my respect, as do MANY, but not ALL, of the male commentators on ESPN. Do I want to know the opinion of Herbstreit, or Dinich? Give me Herbie. Bruschi, or Wendy Nix/Sage Steele? I'll take Bruschi. Do I care what Chris McKendry thinks is the best pick for the Green Bay Packers? No! But I would listen to what Chris Mortensen thinks.

I went to Trump's inauguration - I feel like you were probably marching the next day. Take your hormones and come back later for the discussion when you feel less moody. And when I see THREE WOMEN discussing what they think the key is for the Patriots to get a win without Tom Brady, I am turning the channel!!!

Not how I see it. The Dish Flex is a build your own package, you're not forced to get ESPN. It can be added for an additional $10.

The two cable providers I have also have options w/o ESPN channels. U-Verse has the U-Family & U-Basic and Suddenlink has the Basic plan. You can add ESPN, but it will cost ya.

I would imagine this is how ESPN is losing their subscribers.

So what college did you play for? What NFL team? So guess what? You have absolutely no more knowledge possible than any of those women when it comes to that. Just because you played fullback for your high school football team in 1963 doesn't automatically make you more knowledgeable.

Let me ask you this then, do you have issues listening to Eli Gold? How bout Al Michaels? Or 100 other broadcasters/commentators that never stepped foot on a football field as a player. Let me guess, you have no issues with them... I wonder why that is?

And your political comparison was even more unbelievable. You'd "rather" listen to someone like Chris Wallace then who? Chris Wallace was never a politician, he was always a journalist just like those women that you claim to not be able to stand because "they are only commentators." Why can you respect his opinions and analysis on politics despite the fact that hes never been in politics yet not a woman because shes never played football? And by the way, women are more and more playing football every year. Just in our area we had one girl that played safety, one that played linebacker and a kicker. That's varsity football team and all three were starters...

No, I was at work during the inauguration because I have to work. Your love for Trump makes your arguments about being able to respect female commentators makes more sense now tho...

Xfinity has two packages here that don't offer ESPN. WOW, another option, has one. I'm betting Time Warner has a few as well...not sure about AT&T but I seem to recall one package like that as well.

Tired of people complaining about how they're treated on social media. Espeically celebrities.

It's not news to anyone who's breathing in 2017 that people say dumb shit on twitter. But for every nasty comment there are tons of people kissing her ass... And that's never a story.

Nothing personal Terry the article is certainly related to the topic... Just dislike these famous people's complaints about how their treated on social media, when most of their interactions with regular folks are plenty positive.

In general I think there are some good women journalists/hosts/commentators. Ponder is one I like, Dorris Burke is awesome on hoops. Also doesn't mean there aren't terrible ones who deserve objective evaluating by the people paying to watch. Moral of the story if you as a spectator can't stand women commentating, don't watch. And if you're a spoiled celebrity who can't take negative attention or feedback, quit twitter.

Politics will alway rule the day, but I have to be honest, with this girl, she was hard on the ears. With the monotone one, Jalen Rose by her side, they pretty much had that show flatlining.

@TUSKstuff, I'll take your word for it. I'm not a fan of the NBA so I don't watch any of their programming on that. What caught my attention was the angle about her previous comments/actions that were apparently construed as 'political'. So, I did a little research on her replacement..if you have absolutely nothing else to do check out Michelle Beadle's Twitter feed.
