Nick Saban agrees to contract extension through 2025 season
Was Saban threatening to sit out? I'll be you $100 right now he didn't skip a beat or threaten the University of holding out. On top of it all and off to the side, Saban is irreplaceable. Doubt a Gene Chizik, Mark Richt, or many many other coaches get the benefit of the doubt in a situation like this.

Can you point to a single quote that Julio made "threatening" to sit out? Julio didn't make one single public comment about this situation. All you saw were rumors and the fans and media that ran with it.

His action was speaking louder than his words. He was already sitting out. He missed volunteer camp and last month he was sitting out mandatory camp. Just because Julio decides to go into full damage control after he gets what he wants with the pay raise doesn't mean he wasn't dug in deep for the long haul.
He also showed up to Matt Ryan's passing camp when it was said he wouldn't... What pay raise?

And you see all this as an I told you so moment? The issue was never is Julio going to hold out, he was holding out. Julio can go ahead and tell the football world after the fact, but it would have been far more impressive and believable if he had made that statement clear before the contract adjustment. I see no moral high ground for you or Julio on the subject.

Who knows what was said early on in the discussions, this didn't just start recently as I'm sure you're well aware of.
Think about what you're suggesting, why go through all of this if you're going to speak in the middle of negotiations and give away leverage. That's like @Tidestalker suggesting in this thread to fire Jimmy Sexton (his agent) - to put it nicely, a stupid idea.
Like usual, you make absolutely no sense. Where is the "I told you so moment?" Where did I even speak on ANY of this nonsense before it was settled?
He didn't make ANY statements. He let his agent and the team handle it. They did. People like you are attempting to flip this as somehow Julio Jones was a despicable person because he felt like he deserved an update of his contract (which he didnt get by the way).
What "moral high ground" am I, or even Julio, attempting to take? You're the one spewing BS about morals in regards to him "holding out." Still waiting on you to let me know about this nonexistent raise, too...
Julio Jones has been a team player from day one, this dude has destroyed his body for his teammates and the fans and people like you want to come around and trash him and question his "motives." If you asked 100% of his teammates how they felt about this "hold out", I would put money that every single one would have Julio's back because they believe he'd have theirs.

And as usual, you can't seem to get away from your own hyperbole. I'm not questioning his motives, I'm simply telling you based on his actions that he was holding out and that no one honestly knows how ugly this would have gotten. That's directed right at you and your opinion otherwise. The rest of your tirade about julio's health I can quickly qualify as more BamaJosh subterfuge.

You are the biggest fool in the world if you think Julio put himself through all of this for you or me. He did it for the money, himself, his future, and for his family possibly, like we all do on a daily basis. Give me one person that ever put their life and body through this type of "beating" as you call it for everyone else other than a soldier and I will concede. Time and time again we see these guys pitching fits because they are in for themselves. They love their teammates, but you will rarely see one take a paycut for another teammate. Tom Brady and Drew Brees are two that have and they are absolutely loved by everyone in their city and respected throughout the NFL.
Julio holding out of OTA's, mandatory minicamps, purging all of his social media of Atlanta Falcon tags and pictures, and letting his agent do his talking is more than enough to make a point. Have you not learned it's the guy that says nothing in a room is the one making the loudest statement and the one you have to watch out after? He played it well by not sticking his foot in his mouth and being like most players and just jabbering, but he was clearly playing damage control after the fact by saying he wasn't going to hold out. My ass, because he technically already had. The Ryan Passing Camp? Not team mandated and the bill was footed by Ryan himself.
And so we're clear, no one is trashing the guy. We simply stated our opinion on how he should honor his commitment where he signed his name and allow the organization to look at his contract the next time it becomes first available. They specifically said they look at contracts a year or two out and had other players who had their time come before Julio. So if anything, he is putting himself ahead of other teammates. So spin it how you will, but you are blowing up, per usual, at something you are just off base with. He also is receiving a raise. They are moving 2019 salary to his 2018 salary, in which he will renegotiate after this season and next season will be for more money, making that a raise he is receiving for this year without losing any money next year.
Ah, so you were just regurgitating what others said. I figured. Every bit of it is money he was due to get, they just rearranged it so he got it in 2018. Basically a good faith move to say "we'll renegotiate after the season."

You got super mad about No. 1, something you claim to not care about and No. 2, a post that someone you supposedly have blocked made...
I never said he didn't do anything for himself or his family, that's a given for anyone working a job, but nothing forces him to go out there with a broken hand and keep playing. Nothing forces him to keep playing, an entire half of football, with a broken foot. Nothing was forcing him to play with a broken thumb, torn ligaments in his ankle or a separated shoulder either. He would have been paid sitting on the sidelines watching his teammates...
And lol at him "purging his social media." What a selfish guy! Some of you are super weird. How often do you hear Julio talking to the media in general, especially in the offseason?
Yes people are trashing the guy, yourself included, just own it. I'm not spinning anything. You can't on one hand admit "its a business" and then whine once someone treats it exactly like that. Go back to having me "blocked" since I'm such a fool.

You have to be the biggest block head on this site. You are "blocked", but when I see my name pop up in a response from someone else and your name on it as well I am going to look at the hidden posts. I can't understand why this needs to be explained over and over again.
You're even dumber than you most likely look if you think he played with a broken hand because of you and me. The competitor in him most likely took over, but it wasn't because of the fans as you attempted to say in an earlier post. It's all to get that next contract. You're going to try and flip anything said, so there is no point in continuing. You have asked for information and proof, you have been given proof and you conclude zero from it. That is a personal issue that you have to deal with. In the end, it doesn't matter what you think, because your opinion means zero to anyone here. We just like calling you out for being an idiot. Go back to writing your little column and enjoy that small contingent of folks that are willing to believe your garbage.
