Thanks Terry. Unfortunately he looks so far to be another with great potential, but for different reasons has not performed as well as expected.
He was a project player, at least in my eyes, when he signed in the 2006 class.
The decision to pull him in was largely based on his skill drills (Rivals, SPARQ, these type) when he put up good numbers in his 40 time and decent numbers in his vertical, etc. 6' and 3-3.5" seems like a body frame to be a "big WR threat."
Personally, I wondered what to expect. I based those suspicions on his average times in the shuttle drills. (translated: change of direction IE: cutting and getting open)
Let's not forget his HS school numbers weren't that of a WR that was a threat. He played his Jr. and Sr. year as a QB. I have serious doubts if he were coming out of HS now, he'd get a look at a WR. FWIW, he was listed as an ATH after all of those eval camps.
2006 was really a weak year, in state, when it came to WR's. The fact we only had one guy on staff I felt comfortable with evaluating our WR's, and he was a RB coach at the time, should speak volumes.
