🏈 EA Sports "It's in the game"....not if Keller has his way

Thing is, itll probably work.

The other thing is, the NCAA itself wiill never allow student athletes to be paid.

So basically what they are doing is just killing the game. Its a shame really, hopefully someone will call the mess out before it goes to far.

I don't see how this'll make it very far since the players names are not used in the game anywhere.

Wow. Ok.

I will clean ALL of this mess up for y'all tomorrow.

BOTH sides are telling the truth....in a way.

It won't be that bad if he wins. He is a nipple for bringing it about.

I will do my best to explain things tomorrow or the next day. There is a little more to this than you might think. I would get into it more right now but on my way to see my gal.

I think he's suing along the lines of likeness and that usually upholds in court.

If Sam Keller hurts this video game franchise in any way, he deserves an a$$ whooping.

How on Earth could he say there's likeness of players in that game? They look like computerized cartoon characters. Nearly all the players look the same except the linemen are a little bigger and their color determines what race they are. You KNOW he's broke and is just doing it for the money because, how long have they been making these games, and he's JUST NOW doing it. :lance:

Yes, everyone kinda knows who the guy wearing number 8 and making that awesome reception for the tide is SUPPOSE to represent, even if they dont use his name.

All of this would seem to fall into grey territory though, so nothing may happen even if it gets upheld.

Personally, I think he has a point.

The game lists the height, weight, and home town of the players. It duplicates skin tone, and even if they were a visor or a particular sweat band. The only thing missing is a picture perfect face and a name.

It depends on your definition of 'likeness' I suppose.

If someone were to use a person wearing the exact clothes you wear, hair style, skin color and tone, home town, height/weight. and occupation as you as a character in a book...you would probably claim it was based on you and want a piece of it. If they had everything listed exactly as you except the name (using some other identifier to replace the uni number) and then claimed that character was a child molester, you would be upset about it and at least threaten to sue for defamation.

I cannot say that I blame him.

I guess it won't be too much longer and we can say bye bye to the edit player feature.

No. Quite the opposite. If the ruling goes his way, they will probably STRENGTHEN the player editor so that the consumer is able to manually do it in the privacy of his/her own home. That would violate no federal anti-piracy or trust laws.
