šŸˆ Dylan Moses says he was not fully recovered from knee injury; considered quitting football

He wasn't going to trick teams with his medicals, but talking about wanting to quit is a big red flag that he's going to have to try and talk his way out of to NFL teams during interviews. Really bad decision to put that out there.

I highly doubt it'll be difficult to explain he was depressed and took the injury very hard. I get what y'all are saying, but I highly doubt he's the first guy to take an injury that hard and saw the difficulties of regaining his initial form.

I've been saying here all fall that he's not as bad as many on this board make him out to be, and I know for a fact that the NFL folks view him as a very good player. But, he's going to get grilled on that comment in team interviews. Up until now, the only thing that was likely to hurt him was possible bad medicals on his knee. Honest comments or not, opening up that door wasn't a great move. Teams will want to know, if he tears his Achilles as a rookie, is he going to think about quitting again? I'm not saying he's going to sink like a stone on draft boards, just saying he made his situation unnecessarily more difficult.

Maybe he is one that it could benefit by coming back if they could figure out how to get his knee straightened out enough to play w/o pain. He did not look like the same player but after being out for an entire year some of that was to be expected but it did not explain everything. Maybe this does.

Just read what he said. To me this is not as negative as the headline is stating. Just says it was a hard year and he persevered through the encouragement of his teammates and family. Encouraged others that no matter what your going through to keep going.

Now the medical part will be found out anyway when he is checked out by the teams medical people. Might was well come clean because he was going to be ask about it including how did it feel.

Not to hijack the post but two questions...Will and can Waddle practice and if he can will it be announced or kept hush hush

Was told 3+ weeks ago that he would not play. That came from a support staff member. Now, if anyone can work medical miracles, it's the UA medical team and training staff, but I believe it is unlikely. IF he is completely cleared though, they'd try to keep it hush, hush as long as possible. I know he wants to play, but I don't think that's a big secret.

See... ya'll don't get it... coldheart to not understand what he is dealing with.

It’s not hard to understand how the injury impacted him. A top LB talent with a high draft NFL path in front of him. Then the injury and rehab with high internal expectations on his shoulders.

Now he’s told the world that he’s not fully healed (red flag #1). He’s experienced pain all year long (red flag #2 - risk of additional injury having occurred). These issues made him considered quitting (red flag #3 - emotional issues and level of injury impact).

I’m sure many of us could see that the 2020 Moses was nowhere close to the 2018 Moses. Any physical issues would come out in NFL physicals, but some might not. Now each NFL team will double and triple check everything. ANYTHING that comes out of a physical will drop him down the draft board. He’ll need to overachieve before, during and after the combine to be considered a viable draft option.

Just like every decision to come back or not, risk vs reward.

Physically he hasn't looked fully healthy for much of this year, so maybe he could get stronger & more healthy with another year at UA. He could also just become a more complete player w/ the experience.

On the opposite end, he could obviously re injure himself. He hasn't been dominant but he has some good play on film. Also, I'm not convinced that another year can fine tune "instincts". When you look back at the great UA LB's in recent history, a guy like CJ Mosley stands out just because he had those instincts. Great combination of diagnosis and ability to get to the RIGHT action very quickly. Maybe experience helps that though?

Either way, he's been a warrior. Dude has been battling through a serious injury and helped this D become very formidable. I hope he cashes in at some point!

I can't, positively, put this on Rodak. I can say it's on either his editor (which they don't use often any longer) or Mike. It should be put on one of the two in my view because of how it's presented.

Consider a headline that read:

Dylan Moses says he was not fully recovered from knee injury
You can’t always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you just keep moving you will come to a better place. Don’t give up.ā€

Would the article lose anything? Or, would the article have a bigger impact?

A few writers had their 15 minutes a couple of years ago with the "Tua wanted to quit" headlines and bylines. It wasn't about what he accomplished, but "oh look, a kid thought about quitting Bama!" To me, it looks and reads like Rodak was trying to follow the same running trail.

Words....emotions,....not actions....he was hurting....
Remember Najee went through not getting PT early...

Moses can come back...fully recovered....and lead the D next year...
Move to first round recruit......
Increase his value...by millions

This finally makes sense to me about how he has performed this year. I think the question he needs to ask now is that would coming back & getting back to 100% improve his draft stock compared to this year.

I wonder if he can find a better S&C program to get him back to his full potential? I pray he can get all the insight he needs to make the best decision for his future because he deserves it.

I wonder more what another year in the strength program with our new coaches could potentially do for him. They could possibly work out some of that pain and push him more on that new line of conditioning that is supposedly much different than Cochran's and better for cases just like this.

The statement kind of makes one believe Bama needed him so badly that he played before he was ready to give his best. He can return for another shot at the title if he wanted.

I am hopeful this NCAA rule where any player(s) can transfer to another school and be eligible to play this season doesn't pass.
