🏈 Dr. Rhea's latest "show and tell" tweet...

I was a phys Ed major, and studied kinesiology for a few semesters as part of my major.

Biggest thing, imo? Focusing on developing the slow-twitch muscles as co-equal to explosive fast-twitch.

Slow - twitch: overall strength, and endurance

Fast - twitch: speed, explosive power

Seems to me that the previous S/C staff were more explosion/speed-heavy on their focus, and the results speak for themselves: nicking up/wearing out as the season progressed.

That's not my take. Keeping tabs on Rhea since the hire, he's emphasized how little of their programming is power based, and how much is speed based. And yet, the way they program has seen their metrics on power continue to go up, while players have avoided all the injuries seen under Cochran in his last few years.

The amount of new exercises used, unilateral training, emphasis on bar speed and explosion - IMO this has been the new MO since Rhea and Ballou took over.

Really good to see ya!

Now I'll go see what crap you're spewing. 🥵

Woah, Woah.

Slow down there, killer. Lol. I didn't say he was excluding fast-twitch/explosive power. I simply said he wasn't FAVORING that over slow-twitch/endurance development, whereas the previous staff seemed to focus almost exclusively on fast-twitch/explosive in-season. Almost as if they left the slow-twitch/endurance part back in the preseason during 4th Quarter training.

What has Saban even said in recent weeks? He's pleased with the LACK of injuries and nicks this deep into the season. What causes those injuries? Let's break it down to a single game scenario, in Saban's own words a couple years ago concerning number of plays with the uptempo offenses... "You get tired, you make yourself more susceptible to injury".

What causes you to get tired? Lack of ENDURANCE and STAMINA training....

What is key to endurance and stamina training?

Slow-twitch muscle development.

Glad to see you back bubba. Hope you're doing well!

Totally my opinion, but we are the healthiest and most physical we have been this far into a year ever. Ya we missed some games, but honestly to cupcakes. We have played all SEC and besides some knicks and bruises that happen (and Waddle, man I miss that kids energy’s) we are still “fresher” than most teams we play.
1) this has helped us develop our freshman faster and will help us in the post season
2) can imagine the recruiting edge this gives us to say “scientifically we are going to evaluate you and we are going to help you get better where you at weakest!” If I’m a player liking at next level potential, this is a huge plus for me.
Also my opinion, but this seems big now, give them 3 more years and every team will be doing this and will be behind us. It will be that noticeable.

Imagine what it would be like if we had a full-scale Spring.
