🏈 Do you think the refs helped us win?

Thanks for the feedback all! My opinion of the coworker is a little less than it had been before, but that is something I should expect from some folks. Other VT fans were much nicer and some even had positive things to say. I guess it just goes to show that each team has 'those' kind of fans

I finally spoke to a VT fan today at work to ask him what he thought. His response was interesting. He says that Saban wanted an SEC officiating crew and that was why we won. Apparently the refs missed a lot of calls against us that would have helped them win. I did not see that, but how else do you explain our domination in the fourth quarter?:lance:

To be honest, your friend probably just saw first hand what many of us have been witnessing for years. I'm not saying that BAMA needed the refs to beat VaTech, because I thought BAMA was clearly the better team, but there were some questionable calls. There are questionable calls and non-calls in every game that involves SEC officials. You just never know what you're going to get with those clowns.

BAMA was just the better team. Having said that, your friend probably saw some things that he thought was shady. Heck, even Herbstriet alluded to it at one point in the second half. BAMA had gotten a call and when VaTech went on offense there was a no-call on what looked like might have been pass interference. Herbstriet made the remark, "VaTech fans are probably wondering where their call is right now". He did say that in a game like this, that is fast-paced refs may miss something...yada yada, so on and so forth. I know that in all games calls get missed or bad calls get made. I think it's just that SEC refs have a penchant for making it look intentional.
