🧑‍🍳 Do you do "Uber Eats" or food delivery services?

No. I don't even use Domino's delivery 5.5 miles from the house, usually because it's near Publix and I'll make a quick stop there as I order, or the Ace that's a half mile from there.

Ace. That's my convenience crutch. We have an Ace in Cropwell, six miles from Home Depot. It's a good store, one of about 19 owned by a guy out of Mississippi. His highest grossing store on Saturdays, given the lake/weekender nature of our immediate community. I'll pay a dollar or two extra to pick up something quick during a project than drive the extra six miles (an extra 20-25 minutes round trip). I use the app and get the five/ten dollars off coupons that keeps it acceptable - on the whole - to me. It is my first choice if I'm looking for specialty hardware.

Now you have hijacked a thread. The ACE USED to be my crutch until it was purchased. I knew the GM by name. Do you remember when I was putting the drainage system in the back yard? He was heavily (no pun intended because we both dug) involved in that project. I miss him. (I am laughing at myself right now.) I'd go there for a nut.

I don't go there anymore. It took me a few years to learn the aisle on nuts, screws, bolts. I knew where EVERYTHING was in that store. They bought it. Changed it.

(I just typed that hearing Sam Elliot saying "this is the strangest neighborhood I've ever lived in" on Landman. Laughing again.)

The baking drawer on my oven is off kilter. I don't want to spend a K. I think he would have an answer...the ACE guy. He has a cabin the foothills of the NC mountains. I have his number but I'm not going to call him. He chose to disappear about like Plano did up north.

I'll definitely spend more to not have to deal with big box stores and ignorant employees. Ever been to a tractor supply? No doubt in my mind every employee I've ever met at one couldn't even crank a tractor much less tell you where a part is in the store, they don't know what the part is. I almost always try to use local stores wherever we go.

I hate that place. But I have to go. I need a wheel for my compressor and it's about $15 cheaper there. I can't tell you how badly I hate that area of town. I will go play golf over there. I wont drive there. The two roads that get to that road...no Just. No. (Krispy Kreme had a free donut thing last month. I did go on that street then. They were hot.)

there's another one like Tractor Supply...can't think of the name. Red logo.

Nothern Tool. Yellow logo.
Rural King. None near me.

We have a Tractor Supply in Pell City. I'm glad it's there, it's another option. I've long stopped expecting anyone with any experience at Home Depot, Lowes, any department in Walmart, so I have no expectations from Tractor Supply. I value the butcher shop at Publix, they'll do anything for you for no charge, just pay for the cost of the meat in its original form.

I'd have to look up the apartments name to have a frame of reference here. I can't remember It was on the 15th side of University...down there behind the gas station.

We had a group that hung out at his place...he was the MGR of the Pappa John's on 10th, I want to say? Just over the tracks, strip center on the right hand side leaving campus.

I think that was the last, good, delivered pizza in my life.

That's more along the lines of Harbor Freight and Northern Tool. Those are my rarely used tool go-tos.
When we built the workshop at Dennis's house I can't tell you the number of blades we went through for the circular saws. A lot. A LOT. As soon as it didn't feel right, our sound right, changed. We wasted money. There is no doubt. But, we got clean cuts.

I've used Doordash a few times. I used them twice when I worked at my previous job. We didn't have traditional lunches, only two 25-minute breaks (paid). And a couple times I forgot to take food, so I had to order something. Another time I used them was when I got home from work (from my current job) and just didn't feel like stopping to get food so I used Doordash to order something (from Zaxby's).

I used to get pizza delivered from Pizza Hut every now and then. But I won't ever, again. They use Doordash as their delivery service. So if there's an issue with your order, you have to call Doordash to get it handled. Or, like in my case, NOT get it handled. They said they had no record of the order. Well, y'all sure did take my money and deliver only 1 pizza (ordered 2 pizzas and some cheesesticks and some extra sauces). So if they didn't have a record of my order, how did I even get the 1 pizza? The girl couldn't answer that question. I just told her I'd be doing a charge-back on my card so I'd at least get my money back. That was the last time I used Pizza Hut. When you outsource your deliveries, even on a local level, you get shitty service that's way more complicated than it needs to be. I learned my lesson on that one. From now on, I'll either order Domino's (they still use their own drivers) or pick up.

Never do any kind of good delivery service!!!
I’m sure there are some good conscientious folks out there that deliver. As a whole these people are not anyone I’d trust with delivering my food.
I've had orders where I didn't get everything. That's been inconvient but it's never been one of those "gotta have that now" things. I've orders delivered with things I didn't order; someone else's stuff. That's on Sparks, not on W.

They've never given me any issues on things I didn't get: a refund on both the item and the tip along with a credit to cover the delivery (under $35 in those situations.)

DoorDash sent me a gift certificate a few months ago and I used them twice: both times for the deli right up the street.

I have worse luck with Amazon and something like a pair of socks.
