🏈 DJ Fluker and Bobby Massie......

Oh they'll be a lot of help, but I think we already have the horses to run the race. Fluker is a starter on Day 1 in my mind, but like I pointed in another thread it was the severe lack of chemistry that hurt us. That also goes hand and hand with the no reps/experience excuse but I digress...

LOL love how everyone is now clinging to these guys! How about some d linemen too, I don't remember seeing a lot of pressure up front or did I miss something with all the UTAH points being put on us?

Part of the issue with Utah scoring on us was our offense being unable to keep the defense off of the field. Utah scored 21 in the first while our offense went 5 + punt, INT caused by pressure, and 5 + punt. Its hard to make adjustments when your defense is on the field and your opponent is no-huddle.

Clinging to what guys? The reason we didn't have an answer for all of those Utah points is because JPW is still getting sacked right now.

Yea and the part were they score 21 on our defense big was what I was referring too. Not how pitiful we were on the other side of the ball. Granted out O line was our strong suit. With all the distractions with Mr. Dre and the media I thought maybe our D line would help out instead of folding up and quitting.

I don't agree with the folding up and quitting statement. We played poorly, no doubt. We had issues tacking and our Jackson still hasn't looked back for a ball, however it is difficult to make adjustments and coach players when they are on the field. Had we not thrown the INT on the second possession, and Utah had gotten the ball back on their side of the field, it might have been a different first quarter. As it was, you cannot really call timeout to make adjustments when the opposing offense started at your own 30. They scored so quickly that there was nothing to adjust to.

If we played Utah with Andre in the lineup, it might have been different. As it was, when Johnson went down, we had just 2 players playing at their positions. That completely took our offense out of their comfort zone. The running game was stopped and the Ute speed was too much for the 2nd teamers to handle. In another year we will be better on the OL - even without Andre. The depth and experience will allow us to sub the #2 OT for the #1 OT if needed. As it was, we had to move the guard to tackle, then the right tackle to left tackle and insert a frosh. No depth and little experience was too much to overcome.

They capitalized on our mistakes and had us outmatched with our patchwork OL. Our defense was put in a bad position - something that has not happened much this season.

We lost. The Utes have a fine team.

I said before the game that I did not see any way that Utah could beat us. I felt that our worst performance against their best would still result in a win - but that was not taking injuries and suspensions into account.

My hat is off to Utah. They played a GREAT game. We were short handed AND played poorly from a fundamentals standpoint. Utah didn't make us tackle poorly or make our DB's not look back for passes.

Perfect storm for a Ute victory. If I had a vote, they would be my #1. They went undefeated and beat 4 ranked teams. Regardless of circumstances, nobody else can claim that.
