I just dont understand what you want? AJ pumping up the players? AJ getting in their ear? I wasn't standing on the sideline nor did the camera ever even show the Alabama offense on the sideline talking to my knowledge. His performance def. wasn't good regardless of the protection. He made several bad decisions whether forcing a throw or holding onto the ball too lock, but at the same time he was running for his life or throwing off his back foot to avoid the rush half the night. Also there were some very pretty passes that were dropped, and a cpl that were just great defensive plays to knock a good pass away. You come off like you're looking for some type of negative towards AJ that doesn't exist.
Listen folks, this is a forum for discussion. I am/was asking for your feedback on what stood out to you as clearly definable actions from an ELITE QB last night. I stated at the very beginning I think he is a winner, no matter what & there has been games were he played lights out (last drive of 2013 second & fourth quarters along w/ the BCSNCG against LSU).
This entire question is based on the fact that he is a senior w/ so much accomplishment & 2 years of starting experience. I didn't ask any of this last year simply b/c he did not have as much time on his side. Birdman, I think you did a good summary of his night. The good with the bad. I'm not expecting perfection but does that make me some type of troll for thinking he should've shown something more considering his tenure? You state or ponder that I am looking for something that doesn't exhist, as if there is no basis at all for me asking. Your feedback as well as others is why I posed the question.
I've been a fan of AJ since the beginning. He IS a class act. You will not find a sky is falling or derogatory remark about him from me, ever. I estimated that some folks would consider my remarks inflamatory. That's cool. Folks can see things the way they want. That is the basis for board...I digress.
It is just that CNS states all the time the need for 'consistency in performance'. I interpret the performance part to be when the player is on the field
during game time. AJ's 'consistency in performance' was inconsistent. He made good & bad decisions last night, some that are polar opposites. I dunno, maybe b/c I esteemed him so much to this point, I wasn't expecting how he performed last night.
FWIW, not one of my observations stated that he needed to be screaming & yelling, slapping people around, whatever. My thoughts were simply that of his play... not anybody elses. Sometimes, when the team is outta sync, they need somebody to spark it into sync.
And yeah it does give me great consolation that he takes ownership for what he does or doesn't do. I honestly wouldn't expect him to do otherwise, that is his character.
