🏈 Did AJ do seem like a 3 year starter w/ 3 NC rings last night?

He took the blame from the OL during the post game interview, saying he was holding the ball too long. Sounds like a leader to me.

OR, there was an issue with receivers getting separation.

The thing that strikes me the most is how cyclical this conversation is if you look at it from a distance.

As we put this game behind us there are two things that have stuck out to me.

When is the last time we've been held to less than 100 yards rushing, allowed a team to gain over 150, and left with a solid win (score board wise?)

To me it looked like Saban practically shut things down after we hit the 28 mark. I didn't see any significant adjustments in the second half with blocking or play-calling. In fact, I'd dare say we went even more generic in the 2nd half than the 1st...and the 1st half was as bland as I've seen.

I just dont understand what you want? AJ pumping up the players? AJ getting in their ear? I wasn't standing on the sideline nor did the camera ever even show the Alabama offense on the sideline talking to my knowledge. His performance def. wasn't good regardless of the protection. He made several bad decisions whether forcing a throw or holding onto the ball too lock, but at the same time he was running for his life or throwing off his back foot to avoid the rush half the night. Also there were some very pretty passes that were dropped, and a cpl that were just great defensive plays to knock a good pass away. You come off like you're looking for some type of negative towards AJ that doesn't exist.

Listen folks, this is a forum for discussion. I am/was asking for your feedback on what stood out to you as clearly definable actions from an ELITE QB last night. I stated at the very beginning I think he is a winner, no matter what & there has been games were he played lights out (last drive of 2013 second & fourth quarters along w/ the BCSNCG against LSU).

This entire question is based on the fact that he is a senior w/ so much accomplishment & 2 years of starting experience. I didn't ask any of this last year simply b/c he did not have as much time on his side. Birdman, I think you did a good summary of his night. The good with the bad. I'm not expecting perfection but does that make me some type of troll for thinking he should've shown something more considering his tenure? You state or ponder that I am looking for something that doesn't exhist, as if there is no basis at all for me asking. Your feedback as well as others is why I posed the question.

I've been a fan of AJ since the beginning. He IS a class act. You will not find a sky is falling or derogatory remark about him from me, ever. I estimated that some folks would consider my remarks inflamatory. That's cool. Folks can see things the way they want. That is the basis for board...I digress.

It is just that CNS states all the time the need for 'consistency in performance'. I interpret the performance part to be when the player is on the field during game time. AJ's 'consistency in performance' was inconsistent. He made good & bad decisions last night, some that are polar opposites. I dunno, maybe b/c I esteemed him so much to this point, I wasn't expecting how he performed last night.

FWIW, not one of my observations stated that he needed to be screaming & yelling, slapping people around, whatever. My thoughts were simply that of his play... not anybody elses. Sometimes, when the team is outta sync, they need somebody to spark it into sync.

And yeah it does give me great consolation that he takes ownership for what he does or doesn't do. I honestly wouldn't expect him to do otherwise, that is his character.

Yeah I was kind of surprised by this. You look at the catch Knorwood made, before that, he was having a hard time shaking the defender.

I think when all is said and done, Va Tech will be in the top 10-15 in defense but their record won't show it. We played against probably the 2nd or 3rd best defense we will see all year. I say LSwho and Ole Piss wll be right there at the top.

When VaTech loses more this season, it won't be because of Defense. Logan Thomas & his receivers will be the cause. Not worried one bit about our Team. This game was a wake up call and will whip them back into the real world, or should. Christion Jones saved the day, point blank.

I didnt think you were trying to troll, just maybe being overly pessimistic.

I don't know how you could have prefaced the question any better, Crimson & White. Any drama in this thread is a matter of someone not taking time to read what you asked.

To answer your question I would say he had his intensity dialed down a bit, especially on his new O-lineman. He emulates Coach Saban and that has been his stance, low key. Had they been a veteran line, he probably would have been more in their face as would CNS. He must already know that Henry can handle some ass chewing because he gave that. When the game is on the line, he leads and does it well. Thanks goodness we didn't need that Saturday night because we certainly will in the near future.

That tells me something about the plan for TAMU......if one were so inclined to be extrapolating.

I agree that we looked generic in the second half, and Saban was trying to shorten the game. To his credit, Beamer threw in the towel at the 4 minute mark, running the ball their last possession. Notwithstanding the poor line communication, I believe the staff approached this as a manageable win that called for a limited game plan, as if they weren't trying to show too much ahead of atm. Just my view on it.

I do credit VaTech for bringing pressure early and anticipating Bama throwing on early downs. We were just 2 of 8 passing for 9 yards on first down, plus a sack. When forced to throw in predictable third and long situations, AJ was 4 for 7 for 62 yards, 1 INT and took two sacks.

Still not as bad as Tardfans.com. God, once Tidesports became a rivals site, I went to Tidefans. I got banned instantly apparently being "too negative" towards Alabama. No offense to anyone who may go there, but that place is a complete oversensitive hell hole.

Oh yeah. Tidefans. Been there done that. Got the boot. I also got a "temporary suspension" from tidesports that, for some reason, got converted to a permanent banning. It was just before they became a rivals site. That place got more and more like Tidefans as time went on.

Based on the history of banishments, we essentially consist of a bunch of socially awkward, excitable misfits who are prone to rational, independent thought.

No wonder I feel comfortable here.

I dont do Rival$ but I visit and rarely post tidefans from time to time. Yes it is a "sensitive" forum to say the least. I have been warned in the past for I think typing "damn" lol. I also don't like that they ban LSU fans as a whole from posting on their site. I mean I dislike many of the LSU fans but I don't think it's fair to ban an entire fan base from a few bad apples. Besides I like hearing from level-headed opposing team fans as it brings in different perspectives, but I digress. This forum has and will always be my Bama home for sports! Best one out there IMHO.

Unrelated but I have no idea why it says I joined in 2009 yet I was here during the Shula era. I think it happened when the forum went from crimsontusks to RTB but I have no idea how to change it. If anyone knows please let me know. I have looked in my profile and could never find the setting.

Jesus, I got banned because I literally said "Anthony Grant needs to reevaluate something here, because this offense will not work down the road..". Then I pointed out some statistics of Alabama's red zone offense in years past and how it was struggled....Instantly banned. Nothing but a bunch of tards on there. Can you imagine what it was like during the Mike era?

I do miss Tidesports and all the pals though. Probably the most active and craziest sports forum I have ever seen. Shame it went to hell, but this place is definitely most enjoyable.

This is the only Alabama forum I've ever stuck with, been posting here since high school despite the ban lol Its been great minus a crazy old guy threatening to come beat me up

not to mention an old fart that doesn't like you fixing his posts....

But what ever do you mean? lol

Ahahahahaha Crimson Crazy.

He was so mad at me one time that he said he would drive to Dothan, AL and meet me so he could beat my ass... I agreed and googled "gay bar Dothan, AL" and gave him the address to the nearest gay bar lmao Dont know if he ever went, he got banned right after that.
