šŸˆ DeVonta Smith wins 2020 Heisman Trophy

Coastal Carolina QB. 2,488 yards with 26 TD and 3 INT on the year. Ridiculous vote that should have his ability to vote removed.

Or the guy that even said he was tired of quarterbacks winning and voted three non-quarterbacks. Fine if there are three more deserving non-quarterbacks, but not fine for integrity reasons! Seeing this vote and how these people vote really tarnishes this award to me. Newton and Manziel's off the field behavior killed the totality of the award years ago, but now these idiot voters are really putting rust on this thing. Atleast the best man won this hear, but the 2nd place voting is where it becomes garbage.

I assume this is not a surprise to you. The irrational ways people decide things is happening in all areas of our society today. Not sure how we got here but we are neck deep in it at all turns.

I believe it was @TerryP who posted the idea that there are too many voters for this particular award

900+ I do believe. The majority are ā€œsportswritersā€ which today means any asshole with a Twitter account and 4 followers

I am glad D won but at the same time I look at it like some of the various hall of fame line ups. The whole process has become somewhat ridiculous and bloated. You have folks who don’t know strong side from weak side or the 3 hole from the 4 hole that use the vote to make some kind of statement and then try to force their asinine opinion down the collective’s throat

It also doesn’t help that a large portion of the collective sits like a baby blue jay with their mouth open ready to receive their daily portion of partial digested chum

I did with the thought maybe the voters should be limited to Heisman winners.

It seems that way, doesn't it? Every Tom, Dick, and Harry with an opinion and a vote. But it's not always the case.

Recently I had an afternoon "get together" with a long time afternoon sports drive radio host here in my area. He has an interesting background with football; a male cheerleader for a current SEC school, long time college football fan. He "understands" the award. Literally, incensed when Jameis won. Even before the "secrecy" the foundation put in place this year he didn't reveal his vote and when he did it was always logical reasoning. I don't know who he voted for this season but I trust his vote. It's always about this season, that player, his character, and on down the line.

He's only a radio guy. It's a call in show. But, I trust his vote.

We've seen guy say they voted this year on things off the field, on things from two seasons ago; their own criteria. That's why I think it needs changing.

Trevor Lawrence is a very good college quarterback with, by all appearances, a great future ahead of him. By no metric outside of "the feels" did he deserve to be voted ahead of Mac. And that's why the award loses value in fans' eyes...

Someone just needs to take the keyboard away from her.
It's like the other conversation today about Kristen. Some are just cut from a different cloth.

Immature? Childish? There are several labels people have applied ... they're unique. Certainly not dull. I'm fond of a little crazy.
