"WTF IS DEREK DOOLEY AND WHY IS HE THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT UT?!"

Yeah, they're not exactly thrilled over on the Vilenation boards either.

I disagree. Dooley is a damn good coach. When you have Nick Saban on the phone with a school's Athletic Directer recommending you for a job, you're a decent coach.

The Vol fan base may not be happy right now, but two years from now they'll be glad Kiffin ran off in the night.

So what your saying is that the new UT HC comes with the Nick Saban/Alabama seal of recommendation?

EDIT: Nevermind, and yes UT needs to revamp its entire athletic department before I give the ok to go there in any capacity(future teacher) I dont like how the athletic department takes priority over everything else their school is supposed to do.

Alabama doesnt even approach the territory im talking about, you donnnnnt hear our academic dept come up with to many complaints.

Just something out there with the rest of the rumors. Actually heard that little bit on the radio sports talk out of Tennessee that broke the news about Dooley. Knowing that he coached for 7 years under Saban, it wouldn't surprise me, but who really knows at this point.

Tennessee has a ton of boosters who are leaking a ton of information.

I think Dooley is a perfect fit...he's an attorney as well as a coach. Think of all those legal issues he can divert. The only problem being at TN, he may be in court more than the film room.

I think Dooley is a fine coach. He may not be a Saban, Brown or Myer, but he will do better overall at UT than many people. We may see him replaced in 5-8 years, but he will at least not sink the ship due to his actions.

If Saban recommended him, then that usually means Saban has some regard for the guy. That's a good thing. But did anybody stop to think that maybe Saban wouldn't recommend a guy that might beat him every year? If I were being asked by one of my chief rivals who to hire, you think I'm going to recommend a guy who might own me? Crap no!

Another thought is that Saban was just sitting around the house eatin' oatmeal creme pies (heretofore called "Saban Cakes") and the phone rang. Saban picks it up, and it's Hamilton. Saban is asked who to hire, and Dooley is just the first thing he could think of. It could have been Mike Price, or it might have been Joe Paterno. But Dooley is what popped into his head.

I'm still shocked Houston Nutt didn't interview. And oh by the way, what about a minority hire? The poor interim guy, a minority, wasn't even considered.

Where's the outrage? Where's the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition? FIGHT THE FIGHT MY BROTHERS!!!!!! :td:

My thought exactly! I remember the media flack Bama caught during our hiring process. Suddenly all these coaching hires having no mention of it. Go figure.

BTW We gotta get coach off those damn Debbies. Those things worse than cigerettes relative to health.
