🏈 Demarcus Walker commits to the Tide.

Once again, a recruit tells a newspaper in Jacksonville where he's going to commit and under the assurances they won't break it...they do.

jack??? dude's already listed bigger than what Upshaw played at. i figured he'd develop into a DE or even NG.

This is one of those eye test deceptions where he weighs more than he looks. If he was a true 290 I'd agree. You have to take into account he's got a couple of inches on Upshaw as well.

His coach:

Geis said that Walker, who had 14 sacks and 24 tackles for loss last season, was unblockable on the high school level. He said that Walker looks much lighter than his actual weight, which has stayed between 270-280 pounds.

"He looks like he is 250," Geis said. "He's a special kid. We spent a lot of time with him in weight lifting classes. He's easy to work with. He always wanted to listen. We didn't have to tell him to work out every day. "

He weighed in @ 280lbs at The Opening the best I recall.

Pagan is hitting that 290lbs mark and we all know how different body types carry weight differently. Pagan has that lower core strength.

From watching the kid on film, he may have alot of BAMA fans saying Robert Who?

I didn't think we'd land both Walker and Jonathan Allen.

With so many different recruiting services—which leads to so many different rankings—it's going to be interesting seeing what kind of bump we end up getting with Derrick Henry.

Speaking of which...how the hell do you explain this?!?!

Alabama landed another big-time recruit when Florida DE DeMarcus Walker (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood) committed to Nick Saban and the Tide.

Walker told Greg Ostendorf of ESPN’s TideNation, “They are just putting guys in the NFL, and that’s my dream. With the way they develop players, I feel like the work that I put in there will pay off.”

Walker is ranked the 24th overall prospect by ESPN.com and Scout.com, 26th by 247Sports.com and 96th by Rivals.com. He is listed at 6’3″, 276 pounds but told Ostendorf that he will play linebacker at Alabama. The Tide have a Jack hybrid position (think: Dont’a Hightower) that appears to be right up Walker’s alley.

70 spots.

I had hoped for Robert and 1 of these guys. I think we got a steal with both. Allen and Walker will be beasts for the next 4 yrs!! We don't need Robert and the Grayson family drama.

u think we'll land Henry?

speakin of recruits and rankings anyone see the jump OJ Howard made? 4 to 5 star and bumped up to the #5 recruit in the nation, highest rated TE in Rivals history.

I like our chances with Henry. He's saying he's bringing another kid with him as well but that falls squarely in a "take it for what it's worth" category.

I've been following OJ fairly closely. It's my suspicion he's going to redefine the H-back position.

Terry, I think it had been said in the past that Rivals was a pro BAMA site. 70 spot differential between them and everyone else says different. I would love to land Henry and place him on either side of the ball. OJ WILL redefine the H back position like you think.
