| FTBL Danielson on Finebaum

Well, after listening to Danielson on Finebaum, I have a little more respect for him than I did. I just wished someone would have called in and asked him why he and Vern couldn't get the players names right 60% of the time.

I listened to the replay and agree 100%. I think he did a good job of explaining himself as to his comments. What he said about the CBS commercials makes sense and I also wish someone would have said something about calling Rolando (McCain rather than McClain). Gary hasn't been my problem with CBS, he is just another announcer and I didn't know he had a 14 year history in the NFL. The caller that blasted him about not being that good showed a lot of ignorance. I think things will improve as a result of today's show because he seemed to be genuine in his comments and I really think he is analyzing the coaches decisions rather than being biased.

What is wrong with Danielson, anyway? I'm young, but I am going to be a broadcast/journalism major, so I listen to all types of talk shows and radio and analyze everything I hear. To me, people don't like Gary because he is politically incorrect. He calls a spade a spade. When he made the comments about how dumb the playcalling was, that was fact. When he called John Parker Wilson selfish and stupid for doing what he did, well it was for God's sake. It cost us 7 points and all the momentum we had obtained. I've heard much worse than Gary Danielson. I listened to the segment on PF today as well. Shane, as much as I love the guy, is an idiot. He obviously can't see that the majority of color analysts in any sport are former players that were not the "cream of the crop", hence, they are in the booth. That's just the way it is. Ex-Gary D., Kirk Herbstreet, Mark May, Jim Donnan, Bill Curry, Kyle Petty, Wally Dallenbach, and on and on.
I was embarrassed by Shane's phone call.

Allthough I do get tired of Verne and Gary at times, they are still the voice of SEC football. I would rather hear them than Mike Patrick any day. Roll Tide.

FWIW,

Mark May. 2 time All-American, winner of the Outland Trophy and selected for the Pro-bowl in the NFL.

Gary Danielson- 13 years in the NFL and still one of the top 20 in all time passing yards.

Kirk Herbstreit- 4 year letterman at Ohio State. Started in '92 and passed for 2000 yards in a option system. All conference and MVP are just some of the awards he received in college.

Jim Donnan - The Marshall you probably don't remember of the 1990's was Donnan's brainchild. He won a National Championship there, was runner-up for the NC 2 or 3 times. He was the OC under Switzer that won the NC at Oklahoma. In college, ACC Player of the Year. Hell of a QB at NC State.

Bill Curry - The fact that he coached at Alabama at one time had a 26-10 record while here is a statement in itself with it comes to resumes and commenting on college football. Add to that ACC Coach of the year once, SEC Coach of the Year twice, National Coach of the year once. 9 years playing in the NFL, All Pro two years at Center. Had a few years coaching in the NFL as well.

What the hell race car drivers have to do with color football analyst, I have no clue!

Bottom line, if you take the names you have listed as examples, you'll see all of them have great resumes to be analyst in their positions.

More than qualified...just victims of fans who like to complain about different things they see and hear in their broadcasts.

I'm not a big fan of Lou Holtz. But, he has the resume to be there.

None of the people mentioned in this post are "colored" and would object to being referred to as such if they were. Desmond Howard is a "colored" analyst, but I bet he wouldn't like being called that either.
