So I go to Ireland tonight for my trip and I just realized we will be driving through Waterford aka makers of the crystal footballs Bama has 3 beautiful specimens of. I just made plans to go there!

I'll take pics! Maybe you can buy mini ones haha. I think the Bear Bryant museum on campus has a Waterford crystal houndstooth hat too, as I recall.​

My Grand daughters Abbeyglen and Waverley are named for Castles in Ireland that my daughter and son in law visited on their honeymoon.

Take the factory tour. We did that in May of 2008. Tour ends with a Demo/Q&A session with a Master Engraver. Told him he could go ahead and prepare several of the BCS trophies for Bama because he would be getting orders for them very soon.

you are correct.

and at some point you could buy a small version of the bcs trophy with the small crystal football on top. i don't know if it was an actual waterford crystal football, but it was cool nonetheless.

I never knew about those. I have these instead. I just wish I had gotten the one from the 92 championship.

We went to Ireland several years ago for a friend's wedding. You pass fields and fields of sheep. Some of the sheep will be tagged with a blue mark and some will be tagged with red or green. We couldn't figure out why until finally someone told us. Since land is scarce, farmers will allow neighbor farmers to put their sheep in their pastures for grazing. The coloring lets them know which sheep is theirs and which is the neighbors. After a few days, the sheep will move to another pasture. When it comes time for shearing, they just look at the sheep's but and direct them to the proper farm.

Figured all the sheep would be tagged with blue and orange for date night on the plains.
