Just a question. In the picture below the running back and QB, Joe Kelley I presume, have on different colored helmets, does anyone remember games in the 1960s where you happen to see this?

I don't remember exactly when it started or when it stopped but for a time the backs and receivers wore white helmets so the QB could see them better.

Coach Bryant would use the white helmets on out backs and ends when Bama played a team with helmets NEAR the same color as Bama's. Bama actually switched to the Crimson headgear at the 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl game vs Longhorn U.
