"I wouldn't be surprised if he surprises you as far as what time he is back for us."

At the time, Anfernee Jennings' comment seemed unrealistic.

It was made at SEC Media Days in mid-July, not long after Terrell Lewis tore his ACL.

"With our training staff and his mindset right now, I don't see him missing the whole season," said Jennings, the Crimson Tide's standout redshirt junior outside linebacker.

Crazy, right?

Maybe not.

As ridiculous as it would be for a player to get back that quickly from an ACL injury, the belief that Lewis could be back at some point this season goes beyond just Jennings.

"With Terrell, he's battling his butt off to get back, just like last season," defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi said Saturday of Lewis, a junior outside linebacker who was viewed as a potential 2019 first-round draft pick before the injury. "I wouldn't be surprised if he surprises you as far as what time he is back for us."

Lewis, who battled back from a serious elbow injury last year to be able to play in the final three games of the season, was already able to do an unassisted straight leg raise three days after the knee surgery in July.

He apparently continues to make great progress with his rehab.

"I know it won't be long," Lewis said on Instagram in late July. "Greatness (comes) with patience."

Somebody on this site stated that about a week after his surgery he was helping with a former player's camp and suggested that maybe this injury wasn't as severe as people thought. Hell! I'll be elated if he plays in October!
For clarity's sake I said the weekend after his injury, before his surgery, he was helping out at a camp.

It's an 'oh!' and 'of' narrative. :naughtydevil: It's not unheard of, but when it's heard it's "oh!?" Good to see news of him moving, good to see the video.

What's notable? I've not heard anyone say season ending while discussing his rehab.

It's a 'when' not an 'if' narrative.

"A prophet is unhonored in his own homeland." Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the clarity. I swore I read it the other way.

Here's an odd observation/thought. I'm looking forward to hearing about him being on the bike when the team is practicing.
