🏈 Considering everything.....what is best option

Yes this about tua and big decisions...
If he is thought to be fully recovered....by fall.... without being able to perform and prove by draft...April
Is he better off coming back to improve his stock..play a season without injury...showing he is 100%.....and be a high first pick... multi millions...and high guarentee...but with risk of more injury .....maybe...
Or just entering draft and be a mid to late round pick ....a million maybe...teams dont know how healthy he will be...if really at all... and he wont be in shape by April....to perform...
....everyone knows if fixed.....he is worth abig risk...but the nfl teams have budgets...
......just a thought.....
He and family have tough choices.....

Rehab, enter the draft, and hope you dont get sent to some cesspit team like Cincinnati or Miami. He could last about 5-10 years at a well ran franchise, but I think he'd last less than 5 at a place like Cincinnati.

I expect he'll get hurt a lot, but maybe he could have a career on par with Tony Romo who was a talented passer as well, but like Tua, is injury prone.

Just my opinion but I think we've seen the last of Tua playing qb for Alabama. From what I've seen and heard about him, I think he is very grounded in his faith and realizes God may have other plans for him besides football. Whether it's Tua, his family, Nick or anyone else, I believe there will be something positive come out of this if there is faith by those affected by this.

I agree; I don't think he's coming back either. His worst case is that he's no longer the top QB taken, so he loses that extra chunk of millions, and he's probably going to "NFL redshirt" (unless he goes to a club as previously mentioned and the QB there just blows it mid-season.

Lia has some...experience, but then again, neither Tua or Jalen have any real game experience when they came in and lit the world on fire like Bryce Young could do.

It makes no sense to come back and play "without injury." No one can predict that. He's played his final play for Alabama.

While the injury may impact where he's selected in the draft (and thereby lose $$$), it may actually help him get to a better team. Doctors of all NFL teams who have a QB need will examine all records, x-rays, MRIs and talk with Dr. Cain and the surgeon who performed the surgery.

Complete list of the 2019 NFL draft with salary for each player drafted.

Round 1 32nd pick....Total money 10 million with 5 million signing bonus
Round 2 64th pick....Total money 4.5 million with 1 million signing bonus (all 4 year contracts)
Round 3 96th pick Total money 3.5 million with 822K signing bonus

The NFL will be working Tua's medical history 24/7 as this process moves forward. My wife had foot surgery at Andrews the same year a certain Alabama RB had toe surgery. That doctor told me he and the head man was asked to complete info on how they repaired that toe since fusion on a big toe was something they didn't view as a positive for a

Tua either returns to Bama and goes on to prove that he is in fact ready to rumble after another college season or goes to the NFL and takes whatever they will pay him. Looking to get to that 2nd contract in the NFL sounds good but are the odds in your favor? We'll see.

Well seeing as he's 0/2 on getting through a college football season unscathed, I think it's time to get paid.

In a crazy way, it's actually easier to get through the NFL season without injury than college. If he can stay in the pocket, he's pretty safe.

It would be awesome to see him back at UA, I just don't see it being his best option. He's still going to be a top 10 pick simply because so many franchises are desperate for the big name QB. Talent wise he's there... Character wise he's there.... Health may drop him a few picks.

Rehab. Go to draft where you wind up picked up by a better team than if you went in the first 3 picks. Don't get destroyed your first year playing behind a bad line and rake in the millions in the extra years you get to play.

Exactly. I was reading something and it mentioned a QB was a five year investment for a team. Many teams won't have to throw him in on day one. If Tua is showing that he's fully recovered, or on the road to a full recovery, he could be a mid-first rounder. Philly may pull the trigger at 15 for Wentz insurance (where are you, @PhillyGirl ?). The scary part of the first round is that Miami has three picks spread through the round. They may not take him second or fourth or where their own pick lands, but they have a pick from Pittsburgh (currently 16th) and Houston (25th). If he drops to late first round, then you have the potential of him with a contender, backing up an aging Brees, Brady or Rogers. Absent the initial cash flow, I have to think those are great circumstances.

I have to say that SEC Shorts video made my office a little dusty this morning. Everyone's pulling and praying for him. The University is pulling out all of the stops to see that he gets the best care possible (can't remember where I saw it said something like "you don't see this from college teams - this is what NFL teams do". The program will get credit for doing the right thing. recruits, players and NFL teams alike are taking notice. I'm not saying we're doing this for a competitive advantage, but it's a natural result of doing absolutely everything to see that a player's pro potential might be realized.

Tim

MNF gave an update at halftime on the success of the surgery and said it would be a three month recovery time. Take it for what it's worth.
Not a surgeon for sure... but 3 month recovery sounds a bit unrealistic for a hip fracture.

We need to take into consideration that Tua may WANT to play another year of college ball too... if he can. He may feel he has unfinished business to take care of and he may not be as NFL money focused as everyone seems to think. Who knows, besides those closest to him and I doubt they are saying anything.

Time will tell where how well he recovers and where he ends up. Regardless, he's a class act and I wish him all happiness in life.

I too think that he is gone. Too many dollars to pass up. Having said that. Echoing @alabamajack, I could see Tua pulling a Tebow. Come back for your senior year and having faith that whatever God has in store for you will come to fruition no matter what. Tebow has made millions working for ESPN and through public speaking, book deals, etc. With these guys back grounds, their being rooted in faith, and family support to help them make the right decisions. I would not be surprised if Tua did come back. (although I do not anticipate him doing so). Tua has the personality and skill set to be an on-air personality and would be very knowledgeable as the color guy as an announcer. More than one way to make 7 figures.

Tebow was not a first round draft choice so that is a small difference. Sure he could flip the script but doubt he does. Pay him and let him enjoy the fruits of his hard work. Come back to Bama occasionally and be celebrated when you do. Proud for you and your family in terms of the character you always show. Great representative for Bama.

Tebow was a first round pick... Mid 20's to Denver. I remember because Josh McDaniels traded up for him

Tua will do what his parents want him to do...

I think it's fair to wonder exactly how his parents feel about CNS right about now. Obviously they trusted him enough to believe he would take great care of both boys at UA... I hope that feeling hasn't changed.

It also should be considered that him coming back could prolong the beginning to little bro's college career... If both or either is back at UA.

Another option the Tua has is to "come back" for his senior year but redshirt. He could use this time to rehab his hip and eliminate any doubt of his health. The downside of this is that he will be compared to Trevor Lawrence for selection priority.
