Hey Bama fans, congratulations from Norman, Oklahoma. Many Sooners are very happy with Alabama's efforts in shutting Less Smiles out. There is a TON of ok st fans around here bitching and complaining they should've gotten a shot at lsu. I just tell them to make a field goal and they would have. Simple as that. They don't like that answer. LOL

Anyway, I have no problem with titles in Alabama. I do have a problem with titles in baton rouge among other places and I'm glad this one is not there. Don't party yourselves out, and be safe down there. Maybe my Sooners can get old brother Stoops back at the defensive helm and see you guys next year. (I seriously doubt it with the lack of talent we have, but hey who knows) I'm a realist with a touch of optimism.

Take care guys and again, congratulations. I'll be around.

Besides OK St shooting themselves in the foot thus killing THEIR OWN hopes and dreams, Gundy will eventually get his ill-advised fantasy. Me thinks this years All-SEC game as well as the previous SEC National Champ dominstion over the past 6 years has catapulted in the +1 system. We were all in favor of it last time around. We will be in favor once again. The end result will still be an SEC team vs X team the way I see it. Personally if somehow we make it next year I hope to the man upstairs that it will be against Gundy's best squad ever...and we'll SMASH THEM. "High powered offenses" historically have not proven any match for SEC defenses. Funny reading Gundy's comments about the game and he thinks he would of thrown it 50+ and scored TD's to make the game interesting. Please. He would of had to score 60 as there is no way his D would of handled either LSU or Bama. Why that visor idiot at Ok St doesn't get it is beyond me. It's coming don't worry Gundy.

Thanks for the post and stopping in. Roll Tide!

What Gundy fails to realize is every team that has beaten the Tide since Saban took over the program have done so by running the ball. In fact, any time a team has passed the ball over 20 times in a game? They've lost.

While we don't take the term "Bammers" as seriously as some that get offended over being called "Teasips"...I was just messin' with ya Jeronimo...just playin' around a bit.

Thanks Terry. No offense taken at all. I'm still learning Tide ways. You won't hear that word from me again.

Gundy and ok st have no idea how to handle success. They've never had any real success before. Ever. They're like the little dork kid who just got high of his first taste of drugs, but still can't get to the real party going on in the back room. Then they go around telling their little buddies how they were at this killer party last night. got high and had sex. :lance:

Ok st fans have completely lost it around here too. They have always griped about the very fans they are acting like now. They don't understand expectations and when they're not met. They don't have expectations. They cheer participation. They're proud they got to play. Their fans are total idiots. They have no idea how big time college football works and they think they do now after their first BCS game.

Theres no debate about Alabama's defense. Those were just men among boys. I'm hoping brother Stoops, who is back at OU now, can bring back some of the nastiness OU had back in 2000.

I noticed that Ok State did not finish in the top 50 in rushing yards a game meaning they rushed for less than 163 yards a game. They also did not finish in the top 50 of stopping the run, meaning they gave up more than 140 yards a game. LSU and BAMA finished in the top 5 (BAMA #1, LSU #5) of stopping the run, Averaging no more than 90 yards a game. BAMA and LSU finished in the top 25 in rushing yards a game (at least 215 yards a game)...... All that to say....coming into the game Ok State in my opinion would already be one dimensional relying on the passing game.....not gonna work. Then if you cant stop the run against either team then you are in for a longgggggg day. just a thought

Hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story (sarcasm)

Yup and not to mention this nicely summed up post I read on TDrop:

Oklahoma State

90th in rushing defense
107th in passing defense
107th in total defense
Gave up 365 yards rushing and 33 points to Tulsa
Gave up 34 points to Louisiana-Lafayette
Gave up 507 totals yards, 45 points, and gets dominated in time of possession against Kansas State
Gave up 471 total yards to Texas A&M
Gave up 439 total yards to Arizona
Gave up 231 rushing yards to Texas
Gave up 248 rushing yards to Missouri
Gave up 376 passing yards, 192 rushing yards, and 568 total yards to Iowa State
Gave up 38 points and 590 total yards to Stanford

It would not be a pretty sight for Dumby...err Gundy. Their Oline would shrivel to a prune after one solid quarter of an SEC welcome party. LSU or Bama would throttle OSU, especially this years' teams. I find it funny these teams that get that "new money" feeling as if they've proven anything in the big picture. If it weren't for 2008 and up, they wouldn't of had a 10+ win season since the late 80's. New Money Syndrome. Gundy is slowly becoming more irritating than Lane Kiffin was. Very childish and sour grapes.

we just had an SEC vs SEC national championship game...think about that. SEC just got BIGGER.

Letting a team that should not have even been in a bowl game come back and beat you is just not championship material. Up by 17 in the middle of the 3rd... I know we didn't always have a huge halftime lead, but when we had a lead like this in a game, that meant the game was over.

I spent an entire spring camp with a friend of mine that lives in Shawnee back in the early 2000's. Jeff Ferguson, punter, had just graduated but his brother a sophomore at the time, I believe. Hell, spent quite a bit of time hanging out at Jeff's new house after that girl he was dating—the one that went on "The Bachelor"—broke up with him when she learned she had gotten that gig. Dropped like a rock, she was. Fitting.

Anyway, I bring that point up to say this. Even then, I wondered how much of the defensive prowess back then was due to Stoops, or was it Brent Venables?

This year...

Bama would've slaughtered OK State.

If JJ plays as weakly against OKSU as he did you guys, not sure LSU wins. Bama's D wouldn't have had an issue anyway but JJ's play was ATROCIOUS. Tremendously bad--a lot caused by Bama's play, the rest because he's been a paper tiger all year, Bama just exposed it to the world.

Based on what JJ has done in other games this season, I think that one would have to say that the problems for LSU was more Alabama's D rather than JJ. If LSU establishes a running game then JJ becomes a different player. Against OSU, LSU would have found success running the ball and JJ would have looked like a championship QB. I think it was all about Bama's D.

Joe, I'm not taking anything away from Bama's D--they were lights out. My point was even when he had room or time, rare occasions, I know, he looked off. The throw he missed late, for example, he didn't have to wait to throw it--the guy had a step. He was off Monday night. I am NOT saying Bama's D looked great because JJ was off, I'm saying both happened Monday night. They wouldn't have won anyway, but the O sputtered more because he wasn't ready to play

Many think it was Mike Stoops that brought the heat. I believe someone on OU's board looked up OU's D stats since 1999 and there was a decline after Mike left. I know Bob started out at OU with heavy hands in special teams and DB's, but has since relegated a lot of the duties he used to micro-manage. It could've been Mike Stoops combined with Venables, but who really knows. Rumor right now is Venables has been offered defensive coaching jobs at WV, Auburn and Clemson, but haven't heard anything else in the way of answers, other job offers, or his wanting to stay. There are some rumblings and speculation about how Bob is handling bringing back Mike with Venables still there. Who knows? Sooner fans are pumped that Mike Stoops is back though. I don't think they care if Venables leaves or not.
