I fail to see how only playing within one's conference helps avoid the spread of the virus. It just seems like another "feel good" solution that isn't a solution at all. What's going to happen if/when they just cancel the season like the Ivy League did? Do the decision makers think these players are going to go sit in a protective HEPA filtered bubble and read up on their chemistry books all fall? They're gong to be doing what college kids do, congregating at parties and anywhere you can find alcohol, weed, food, and females (not necessarily in that order). And all that to say that it isn't going to be an issue for the players being infected anyway. How many players overall have tested positive so far? Out of those (and its been a bunch), how many have actually been hospitalized? Let the players decide if they want to play. If not, give them a redshirt year. Then, play football.
