Watching the playoff special (doing paperwork today). Looks and sounds like if Boise wins and smu loses. SMU stay ahead of bama. Which would eliminate bama. If both lose it’s 50/50 on bama. If they both win, bama is in.

SMH... no, just no... smu will not be ranked ahead of bama if they lose. This has been discussed earlier.

Boise is even ranked worse than smu... they will not stay ahead of Bama either if they lose.

All this stress if for not... stop trying to make it more complicated than it is. If either Boise or SMU were to be considered with an additional loss they'd be ranked ahead of uGA, uT, and/or OSU. Currently they are not... for both of those teams it's win you're in... lose you're out.

Unanimous consensus by the hosts of the playoff special is that smu will stay. Granted I agree with y’all but that’s not what these guys are saying.
They are there to generate buzz and talk....

You can't ignore the way the Playoff committee has things currently ranked and moving a 2 loss Miami behind Alabama says a tremendous amount considering Miami was ranked well ahead of both smu and boise prior.

How long before teams in the top 10 start opting out of championship games if teams like SMU get dropped if they lose?

“Opting out” would be forfeit so no, that will not happen. Now a team like Oregon may sit players to avoid injury…
Is it a forfeit or does the conference put in the next in line? If it's not an on the field loss how does the committee view it? Team has the flu and can't play... few ways they could get out of playing. Just FYI, any time you don't play without a legitimate reason it's a forfeit and sorry sportsmanship to me but I could see teams doing it.

If we base an answer on how they handled the CWS a few years ago with Covid...if a team is sick in the tourney, they are out of luck.
